Chris Rock and Malaak Compton were reportedly getting an ‘amicable’ divorce, but that went down the drain pretty quickly. According to TMZ, Chris is already taking precautionary efforts to keep his wife from fighting dirty, especially in regards to custody over their two children.
Chris Rock has apparently been complaining that Malaak Compton-Rock has kept him from seeing his two daughters on a regular basis, but I’m thinking his busy career has already taken care of that part. But since he is asking for shared legal and physical custody of their daughters, 10-year-old Zahra and 12-year-old Lola, I’m sure he has some dirt up his sleeve.
To be fair to him, Chris Rock and Malaak Compton-Rock were more or less separated before this, and they were living separate lives. If Chris filed for divorce, then it’s clear that he wanted to take some legal action against Malaak, and it seems like a large part of his motivation in that was seeing his daughters on a regular basis.
It’s tough, especially because you can see both sides of the arguments on this. Malaak could argue that Chris’ busy career kept him from seeing the girls on a regular basis, but Chris will argue that Malaak was purposefully keeping him away from his children. Either way, the divorce is officially setting things in motion.
Now, there are also rumors that Chris Rock was ‘cheating’ on his wife with Rosario Dawson, his co-star in Top Five. Since this report originates from Media Take Out, I wouldn’t take it too seriously, but it’s also possible that they’ve hit the nail on the head with this one. MTO’s source explains, “They didn’t want to announce it while their movie TOP 5 was still being released – cause they didn’t want people thinking that Rosario is some type of homewrecker. She’s not, Chris hasn’t been with his wife in about TWO YEARS.”
That’s true, and if Chris Rock really is with Rosario Dawson, it could be another reason for why he filed for divorce – because he wanted to be ‘free’ to officially date Rosario, even though he was never actually ‘cheating’ with her.
