Game of Thrones Season 4 Finale Spoilers - Tywin and Tyrion Lannister in Deadly Confrontation - Will One Die?

Game of Thrones continues to be one of the most surprising shows on television, largely because they don’t shy away from explosive episode finales, driven by plot twists and shock value. I mean, who predicted that ending coming Sunday night? Apart from those who read the books, of course. Everyone certainly expected that something bad would happen to the Red Viper, what with all the foreshadowing and all, but I don’t think anyone quite expected his end to be so… explosive.

But for the people who have read the books, we all know that there’s more surprising deaths awaiting us over the season, don’t we? There’s only two episodes left, and we have one MAJOR character death that awaits us in the season finale, which has already sort-of been spoiled by the showrunners.

For those of you who have not read the books, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Still here? Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

The showrunners teased a major showdown between Tyrion and Tywin Lannister in the season finale, and if it’s following the book’s story, that means we’ll end up with Tywin’s death at the hands of Tyrion. There’s no way the show will deviate from such a major plot point, so I think it’s a given that we’ll be getting Tywin’s death during the finale – and since the showrunners already teased a ‘confrontation’, it’s pretty obvious that it will be Tyrion who kills his father. Of course, he then has to flee Westeros because he’s wanted for murdering his father, but that’s all for Season 6.

What do you guys feel about the show including this? It’s definitely necessary for Tyrion’s larger show arc, but it’ll be sad to see Peter Dinklage leave all the cast members that he’s developed such lovely chemistry with.

It is highly unlikely that Peter Dinklage will not show up during season 5. Just because he doesn’t show up in a Feast for Crows, doesn’t mean he won’t show up in season 5. Season 4 is already so all over the place (with Dany already pretty far into a Dance with Dragons – same with Ramsay and Reek – and Brienne likely nearing the end of Feast) I seriously doubt they will follow George’s terrible formula of splitting the series geographically. But this is just my opinion.

I’ve been wondering how they are going to do this scene. Tywin’s been an awesome main villain of the show even better in the books. Its a pitty to see him die but its a big moment and Tyrion has to be the one who does it.
