RECAP:

Mike meets up with Briggs on the beach. Briggs says he contacted some old Mexican contacts to help him with the Caza cartel. He says if they don’t know who put out the hit on him, they can find out. Mike is concerned that Briggs is out to avenge himself against the cartel that got him hooked on heroin. Briggs says he’s leaving tonight and Mike says Charlie won’t be happy. Briggs asks him not to mention it to him.

In the Caza Cartel territory in Mexico, Briggs is driven to meet the contact. Back at the beach house, Charlie looks around for Briggs and leaves him a voice mail when she can’t find him. We hear on the Spanish radio station that the FBI is working with the Policia two arrest 200 Caza cartel members as part of “operation payback.”

The cartel guys pull up with Briggs and put him into a different car for the next leg of the trip. He has a black bag on his head so he can’t see where he’s being taken. He’s pulled out of the car and the bag removed. The car leaves him there. He looks around and hears a goat through the corn field. He follows the sound and finds a small house. He goes to the door and looks around.

Briggs goes to check out the goat and clucks at it and asks if it’s the contact and if he’s been impersonating Caza killers. He hears a vehicle and a truck pulls up at the little compound. A man gets out and pulls out groceries then approaches the house. He hands them to Briggs – it’s Senor Armas. The guy pulls a knife and cuts the goat’s throat.

He’s the Caza cartel leader and there’s a story on the news about him that all the peeps at Graceland are watching. The news story says that Armas is the mastermind of a crime ring. Mike and the others look at the mug shots and try to figure out who was torturing Mike. Charlie comes in asking about Briggs and no one has an answer. She goes back to them and demands that Mike tell her.

He tells her to sit down. She refuses. He tells her Briggs is in Mexico. Charlie rails at him and says Briggs is probably dead already. She can’t believe he let him go and says Caza wants Briggs dead. Mike says it was Briggs’ call. He tells them to finish up their cases so they can be ready to move when Briggs calls.

Mike says that Briggs went to make a deal – if Caza gives up who went after him, then the FBI will back off the cartel. Charlie calls him an SOB and says Briggs only went down there for him. Armas and Briggs talk over dinner and Armas says he doesn’t like when law enforcement pretends to be something they’re not. Briggs asks if he thinks the same thing about his friend Jangles aka Cortes of the Policia.

Armas says he’s the worst kind of friend. Briggs tells Armas he’s destroyed plenty and he reminds him that his people held a gun to his head and forced him to get hooked on heroin. Armas says the FBI is causing problems for him and says he sent no one after Mike. Briggs offers him the deal to shut down the FBI action if he gets him a name. Armas says he’ll find out and get in touch.

Paige works her corner and a guy approaches and asks what she has for him. She opens the van and shows him the barrels. She asks when they’re meeting Moreno. He tells her to give him the keys and she tells Finch not to think about screwing her. She tells him the keys are in the van and walks away. She peeks as he makes a call and looks at the security cameras posted nearby.

Johnny knocks on Jakes’ door. He can’t believe that he’s really leaving and asks why he’s going. He says a co-ed frat house with guns is not his thing. Johnny says they do good work but Jakes says they aren’t doing important work there. He holds up a photo of a kid – Daniel – who’s nine. Johnny asks how long he’s had him and he says, duh, nine years. The baby mama’s name is Cassandra and he says he met her in El Paso but he was always in Juarez fighting the fight.

He says he had a bad night and told Cassie to take off. Jakes says he heard she was taking his son to California and so he decided to put in for a desk job so he can get to know his little man. Jakes tells Johnny to keep his mouth shut until after he’s gone and not tell anyone about his son. Johnny agrees and then asks if this is good bye. He asks if Jakes wants a hug – he says no – but he does it anyway.

Briggs calls Mike and says he met with Almas. Charlie comes in and Briggs asks to talk to her but she slams out the door before Mike can offer her the phone.

Mike comes to talk to Paige and she’s on the phone discussing the video and asks for audio enhancement ASAP. They hang up on her when she gets pushy. She asks Mike what he wants and then tells him she has spent four months trying to take down an M bomb lab and is so close. He tells her to hand it off but she says she can’t – it’s her bust. He offers to take a look.

She shows him the video of Finch talking on the cell phone but is having trouble hearing the audio. She says only the FBI gets the good tech. She tells him she’s annoyed about being yanked onto his project. He offers to help but she turns him down and says it’s all good.

Charlie works at the tattoo parlor when Briggs comes in. She stabs a client accidentally and he rants. She tells one of the other girls to give him a tampon. She calls Briggs an asshole but he says Almas is going to help them. She can’t believe he met with the boss and says there was no reason for him to go down there. He tells her they were at a dead end and she says he wants a do over.

Briggs says Mike’s case is what they need. She’s mad because he left her out. She asks what’s next and asks if she should trust him. He reminds her she sneaks out at night without explanations. She says she’s doing this at night and slaps a folder against him. He opens it and looks at the file then looks worried.

Jakes calls Cassie and she says he’s not supposed to be calling there. He tells her that he just wanted to see if they’re still on. He tells her he got an apartment with a room for Daniel and she cuts him off then hangs up. Briggs is at his door and he asks if Johnny told him but he says he can always find him. He shows him his son’s room and is so proud. Briggs shows him Charlie’s file.

Jakes opens it and says it’s Kelly Badillo, Juan Badillo’s widow. They worry that if she keeps poking, people will find out that Jangles didn’t really kill Badillo. He’s worried that she’s digging into this and Jakes tells him he’s not going down for it. Jakes says he needs to find out what she knows and get ahead of it. Briggs says he will and leaves.

Paige and Mike are at the FBI and she’s annoyed that he took her file. She asks if he enhanced the audio and he says, not exactly, and tells her he has something to show her. He introduces her to a couple of techs, one who reads lips. She translates Finch says he has it and can meet when you want. He then says the girl has a fine ass but you don’t need to meet her. He then says Thursday at 4 pm.

Paige is annoyed that Finch was going to cut her out like expected and Mike says that gives them two days to set up but she isn’t interested in his help. The interpreter talks to the deaf agent and then she says she thinks it’s Tuesday then says she’s sure. They only have 30 minutes before the meet. Mike tells Paige to get her guys to Finch’s.

Charlie sits in her car on stakeout when Briggs hops in. He asks what she’s doing and what it’s about. She asks what it’s always about and says guilt. She says Kelly has a nine year old and that the kid now has no kid. Charlie says it’s her fault for not recognizing Jangles for the psychopath he was and then him destroying that family. She says everything she touches turns to shit and he says in their line of work, people get hurt.

Charlie says that Kelly is drinking again, she’s a mess, the kid’s a mess and now she, herself, is a mess and can’t pull it together. Briggs tells her she needs to let it go before it drags her down. He says he knows from experience.

The agents head to the place across from Finch’s. She asks if they have her gear and goes to change. Z is supposed to be looking for the arrival of Moreno, but instead stares at Paige as she pulls off her shirt and drops trow to change. She’s in sexy black panties and Mike has to snap his attention back to law enforcement. She says they need to feed Francis, Finch’s pet, after the bust.

She says she’s taking the pizza and then snatches the gum out of Zelanski’s mouth. He’s totally turned on. Finch plays his guitar while his lizard hangs out. Paige shows up with the food and he says he’s busy. She asks if he’s expecting someone and he asks if she wants to see his new mic. He says he’ll grab some beer and get them set up. He pulls out a gun and goes after her.

He heads into the room and she tackles him and puts the gun to his head and asks how he has the balls to cut her out after four months. Mike sees the car and tells Paige that Moreno is there. She holds the gun on Finch and says they can talk to Moreno together or she’ll beat him unconscious then get her money and come back and maybe shoot her.

Moreno is there and asks to see the chemicals. She asks to see the money that he’s using to buy her chemicals. She gives the catch phrase “Francis looks hungry” and the team moves. Moreno says she’s wasting herself on Finch. The DEA busts in and she curses at Moreno blaming him for calling the feds on her. She chases him and tackles him calling him names. Mike locks her into cuffs and asks her if it was fun. She says yep.

Mike gets a call from Foster telling him about a tip from Caza about a cut house in Huntington Beach. She says tactical is already rolling but says they’ll hold until he gets there. Some kids listen to a cassette tape of guys talking about guns and then gunshots. The dad comes out and asks why they’re messing with his classic car and they tell him they needed a tape player. They place the tape and ask if it’s a snuff tape and he says that’s an urban legend. The kids ride off and he puts it in the glove box.

The crew busts into the old envelope factory and find a goat tied up. Briggs laughs and says it’s a messed up sense of humor. There’s a photo near the goat of the guy that went after Mike. Back at Graceland, Johnny runs through the deal and then asks if they know who’s in the pic. Mike says it’s Carlos Solano, head of the Solano cartel but Johnny says Carlos is a young dude.

Briggs says the pic is of the dad who runs the cartel by bus out of Tecate. Carlito is the son who is local and there is a sister, Lucia, who isn’t in the family biz. Mike says they found motor oil additive in the heroin. Paige says she knows some dealers that may be able to help. Mike asks Charlie if she feels like making a new boyfriend. She grudgingly agrees.
Z asks if Mike wants him on buses but he says he wants him to move out because he needs Jakes on buses. But then Johnny reveals that Jakes has moved out and is no longer on field work. Charlie asks when this all happened. He says when none of you are looking. Mike tells Z he can have Jakes’ room and the bus detail. They all go to work.

Jakes pulls up at Cassie’s house and knocks on the door. She opens it and her BF Derek is there. She tells Jakes it’s not going to happen. She says he keeps pushing and says Daniel doesn’t need him. Derek says that they don’t need him. There are cops there that haul him away because she got a restraining order. He screams at her that she can’t do this. Daniel rides up on his bike and runs to Derek calling him Daddy and asking who the man is. Jakes struggles and yells out that he’s his father.

Briggs watches Kelly who heads into a liquor store after hesitating. She grabs a basket and starts putting bottles in. He comes into the store and approaches her. He stands nearby and says he thinks he knows her. She says no and he says her knows her from meetings but she says she doesn’t remember him. He says he keeps to himself and doesn’t talk much. She says it took her a long time.

He says he lost someone like she did and says time heals all wounds. She says tequila works for her. They talk booze and she says she’s back on the wagon. She says it’s been three days. He says he’s got her by two and she says five and asks him to make it six and says they can have coffee around the corner. He puts the bottle of booze down and they leave together.

At the house, Mike looks at the cork board of evidence when Charlie comes up. He tells her he wants it bad and thanks her for her help. Johnny says they have a lead on Carlito at a nightclub tonight. She wants to do more background but Mike wants her to go to the club tonight. She agrees.

Jakes comes home looking weary and stares at the stuff he got for his son with tears in his eyes. He pulls a baseball bat down off the wall and smashes everything in a fit of fury. He sits down looking world weary.

At the club, Johnny and Charlie watch out for Carlito. She says he’s probably online shopping for antiques but he says Carlito’s right hand man just came in. He tells her to go over and do that thing she does with her lips. She heads over but then stops and turns back. She comes back to Johnny and says it’s not right and asks for another drink. She says she can’t do it right now.

Johnny says they have orders and she says he can follow them and when they turn to shit, he can deal with Mike. She walks out and he stares at the guy and then saunters over.

Briggs and Kelly talk at a diner and he admits it’s been a struggle lately. She asks who he lost and he says there was a house fire and no one lived and says he was very much in love with his lady.

Mike comes in while chatting on the phone with Foster who tells him it’s a good thing he has her looking out for him since he sent Briggs down to Mexico off books. She says he risked Brigg’s life. He thanks her and she says to run the Solano thing. She tells him to stay focused but then Paige walks by in a towel and he’s distracted. She says not to get lost upstream and he says he won’t. They hang up.

Paige drops her towel and stands bare. Mike walks up and she turns to him. That’s all we see.
