The Kardashian Klan will resort to almost anything to extend their 15 minutes. The E! Network had renewed Keeping Up with the Kardashians back in 2012 for three years. With their contract up for renewal in 2015, the Kardashians are now scrambling to do whatever it takes to put on a happy front and pretend their failing show is still relevant. Their once highly-rated show has continued to drop considerably in ratings each season, with the most recent as the worst. Between Lamar Odom’s entrance into the world of drugs and hookers, Kanye West’s presence on the show, Kris Jenner’s drunk cougar love fests, and Bruce’s absence from most of the show as he deals with his gender identity issues, the show is becoming more and more pathetic with the Klan forcing storylines that are too obvious and not worth watching.
Though many media sources have reported Bruce has already decided he would not sign if a renewed contract was offered, Kris is not yet letting that cat out of the bag. Bruce is a ratings draw and without him, she fears the contract is in severe jeopardy. Kris is handling the KUWTK contract renewal the same way she handled her failed talk show when a contract was still up in the air. Kris knew the show had no hope of being picked up, but she played coy and pretended all was well while negotiations were taking place. She never lets on to any cracks in their brand, believing she can truly manipulate the media and fans to buy the BS she’s selling.
While many critics believe the show will not be renewed, Kris has her team of “sources” on it. Spreading the word to build buzz that the show will go on, it is being reported that the Kardashians are on the receiving end of an even better contract than the last! The “source” goes on to say, as reported by TMZ, that this deal will be even better, and is set to include a multi-season deal. Really? If that was the case, what does that say about the ol’ honchos over at E!? Has Kris actually brainwashed them to believe the Kardashians are worth even more after their ratings have taken a continual nosedive? We didn’t think so either! Nice try though, Kris. I wonder how much you pay your “sources” for providing these great “inside tips.”
Kris is in panic mode because she sees that the show no longer has the steam or fan base it once had. Many critics believe the show won’t be renewed once it ends in 2015. Jennifer Pozner, author of “Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth About Guilty Pleasure TV,” told RadarOnline.com that “People are starting to say, ‘I think we’re over it.’” Indeed we are. In fact, some were never into it to begin with.
Kris, for now, is having “sources” spread the word the show has a new sweet deal, but privately, she is already setting the stage for her backup plan to focus on rebranding using youngest daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. “[After 2015], it’s on to [Kendall and Kylie], the other acts that they’ve got coming up,” branding expert Rob Frankel explained, as reported by christianpost.com. He goes on, “[Kim, Khloe and Kourtney] were really a disposable property. They never had a strategy to keep that identity going for the long-term.” Perhaps that is because Kris has never been educated about marketing ad branding, and has flown by using short-term tactics that get the family the media attention that focuses on the “now.”
For those who doubt that Kardashian matriarch Kris could do something so devious promting sources to release the news about their supposed new E! contract, well, check out the E! Network site. That would be big news… had it been real. Surely E! would have reported the “exciting news” as well. Let’s hope that the honchos at E! have gotten to the point where they can no longer stomach the fame-hungry clan either and put us all out of our misery. Stay tuned, CDLers…and don’t believe any new KUWTK contract rumors, unless you hear it from us!
