A cyber-attack on the city has made the team reflective on tonight’s episode of “NCIS”. Each team member was either pulled from bed or the gun range when the attack went down and yet there’s only so much they can do in this time of need.

Sorry to say but this particular division of NCIS aren’t exactly equipped to take on the dark net kind of world. And frankly the only one that’s even remotely qualified to get them information is McGee. According to Gibbs, McGee speaks Geek.

And Geek is what they need. In order to find out the agenda behind the cyber-attack – the NCIS team has to consult with three cyber-terrorists they’ve imprisoned. Not an easy thing to do. Yet former NCIS systems administrator Kevin Hussein, Heidi Partridge, and Anjay were all needed so a few calls were placed. And quite a few dangerous criminals were released into NCIS custody.

These guys were needed because they’re the only ones that know “Krampus”. Krampus was the signature attached to the attack. So at least the team knows who they’re after but they’re bit confused about what his endgame is.

It seems that only the city itself and everyday pedestrians had their computers affected but all government offices remained fully operational.

Though the team didn’t have to worry about Krampus for long. A short time after they approached the cyber-terrorists, the virus that had been affecting Washington DC suddenly stopped. And there was no explanation as to why.

So Abby did some digging and what she found was a hoax. At first glance, Krampus looks like he scuttled back into some dark hole but he was still in the city’s servers. And on top of that a body showed up from out of nowhere.

The criminals the team were going to use – hadn’t wanted to actually help. AT least for free. Anjay, who nominated himself as a spokesperson, demanded he and friends get access to a computer in exchange for assisting the NCIS. And of course no was willing to these guys’ means to causing even more trouble. So McGee told them no.

However, they needed their help so they brought to the body. It was speculated that body might have been Krampus but ultimately it wasn’t. Though they still had a dead hacker on their hands and no way of identifying him.

And time was running out for McGee. His father hasn’t responded well to treatment and the older man needs surgery. Yet McGee’s dad doesn’t want to have surgery and his son can’t be with him to convince him otherwise. So right now McGee is on edge!

He’s dealing with heartless hackers and the only one that could have been of helped – Heidi – is dragging her feet on unveiling Krampus. She knows who he is and where he’s hiding but is refusing to say. And while one of her new friends is supporting her stance – Kevin can’t side with someone that’s protecting a predator.

Because that’s who Krampus is. The team looked into him and found out he hacked underage girls’ phones in order to get embarrassing photos to blackmail them with.

So Heidi was forced to hear what Krampus did and McGee told her she could either be a good person or a horrible one. And in the end she chose to help. She told them where they could find Krampus and in doing so the team was able to erase all the files Krampus had secretly stolen from government servers.

It seems all along he just wanted to make a buck so the 40 something year old guy that was still living at home with his elderly parents tried to sell out his country to the highest bidder!

The scary part is how close he got. But the time McGee wasted on tracking him down couldn’t be accounted for. It’s not known if McGee’s father went through with the surgery but the end result stayed the same – his father passed away.

And that’s why McGee has been thinking so much about the cyber case and about Gibbs’s rules. Both taught him to appreciate what he has all the more!

THE END!
