Tonight’s Project Runway Season 13 reunion show kicks off with Tim Gunn and the rest of the designers.  Tim gushes that this season’s winner Sean is “super sweet” but definitely had a competitive streak.  Sean was on the bottom of the competition when the series started, Sean explains that he started working harder to manage his time on each design and made a point of creating things he knew that the judges wanted to see.

This season’s runner up, Amanda, actually returned to the series during Season 13, after she lost Season 11.  Amanda explains that this time around as a redemption designer she made a point of moving forward with a clear vision this time.  Korinna points out that Amanda definitely had an advantage over the other designers because she knew what to expect this time around and she was able to hit the ground running when the competition kicked off.

Next Tim Gunn puts Char on the spot – she was actually eliminated once during the season but Tim Gunn used his save to bring her back in to the competition.  Tim asks Char how she feels about all of the viewers at home who thought she never should have made it to the finale.  Char explains that the judges seen something special in her, and she had every right to make it to the finale.  Tim gushes that Char does have a strong voice.

During the season tensions developed between Korinna and Char, and plays a clip of when Char’s dress beat Korinna’s ad the judges sent Korinna home.  Then, when Korinna returned during the next episode and was told she had to help Char, she refused to help her and walked out of the design room.

Char thinks that Korinna handled herself “tastelessly” the whole season, and was a “mean girl” and threw other people under the bus during the entire season.  Korinna is offended and can’t believe that Char has the nerve to say that she has a “bad heart.”  Korinna apologizes and says that she knows she acted like a lunatic.  Korinna breaks down and starts crying because Char won’t accept her apology, she says it’s really difficult to watch the scenes because she doesn’t like the person that she was.  She sobs that after the show people started emailing her every day telling her that she should “go kill herself,” and she can’t wait for this to all be over.  Korinna leaves the stage and says that she needs a break.

Amanda explains that she was roommates with Char and Korinna, and when the show started they were “thick as thieves,” and they used to stay together every night until 1:00 AM talking and laughing and it’s really sad to see that their friendship is over.  Korinna returns to the stage and Char feels bad and tells her that she accepts her apology and hugs her.  Tim brags that he is very proud of them both for putting aside their differences.

Now that Char and Korinna squashed their beef, Tim brings up the fact that Korinna was fighting with Amanda too and told her that she is a “phony.”  And, Char made it very clear that she did not think it was fair that Amanda was brought back for a second season.

Char apologizes for what she said, and she explains that she has no problems with Amanda now – and when she said that about her, it was before she really got to know her.  Amanda chimes in that now they are friends and she realizes that what she thought was phony was really just Amanda’s true personality.

Next Tim Gunn addresses Sandyha, she confesses that her time on the show was difficult because people on the show acted like they were in high-school and ignored her and wouldn’t even sit by her.  Sandyha complains that when they went to NYFW interviews, everyone asked her “why does everyone hate you so much.”  Emily gets irritated and says that she had Sandyha’s back the entire time and always stood up for her, and then Sandyha turned on her.  The other designers reassure Sandyha that they didn’t have any problems with her – she was just too sensitive.

Tim brings up a controversial topic, when he gave Char an extra ten minutes to fix her zipper.  The other designers felt like Char basically just got another “Tim Gunn save.”  Alex points out that they should have all gotten an extra ten minutes in the work room, not just Char, then no one could have said it wasn’t fair.  Alex was sent home that week – he explains now that he knows even if Char hadn’t gotten an extra ten minutes he would have still probably gone home because he chose such a horrible fabric to work with that week.

Tim brings out the rest of the designers reveals that Samantha was unable to make the reunion, however Emily reads a letter aloud that Samantha wrote to Tim and the other designers explaining that she had to have surgery and would not be able to attend.

Tim asks what the hardest part of being on Project Runway is – Jefferson and Angela explain that they learned to grow a thicker skin when the judges shredded them apart on the runway.  Korinna confesses that the show was a rollercoaster, but she is already reaping the benefits and is doing make-overs with Mary Kaye and was given her own rack at Lorde & Taylor.

Next, Tim has a surprise – Aldo designers selected one of the designers who used their shoes and accessories the best all season long and has awarded Amanda with a $5,000 bonus.

At the end of the reunion special Tim Gunn gushes that this season was by far his favorite and he is in awe of all of the Season 13 designers.
