Robin Roberts recently revealed that she’s been in a longtime relationship with Amber Laign, the woman who helped her get through a really tough year, which involved an arduous battle with cancer. While Robin revealed that those close to her have always been aware of her relationship with Amber, she felt the need to thank her publicly, especially after all Amber’s done for her over the years and the incredible support system she’s provided.
”My year in post was just full of gratitude and telling everyone all that I’m grateful for, including my girlfriend Amber who really loved me through a very difficult year and I’m very happy for the support,” the Good Morning America star said.
Even though the couple have been involved in a “secret” relationship for approximately 10 years, Amber has been by Robin’s side at numerous events, including those that have been televised.
Just before the New Year, Robin made the effort to post a heartfelt message on her Facebook page: Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: “If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health.
I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together. I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold. Amber, a massage therapist, currently lives with Robin in her multimillion dollar apartment in New York, though sources say she does own a home as well.
