The Biggest Loser Recap 9/25/14: Season 16 Episode 3 "Double Header"

Tonight on NBC The Biggest Loser returns with an all new Thursday September 25, season 16 episode 3 “Double Header.” On tonight’s episode the contestants test their nutritional understanding before competing in an endurance challenge. Meanwhile, an inspirational “Wall of Glory” reminds them of their athletic days and provides motivation to work harder at the gym.

On last week’s episode week two began with the trainers and contestants getting to know each other and revealing more about themselves, with the exception of one player who refused to talk about what led to her weight gain. This week’s challenge had contestants busting through “walls of excuses” and racing through an obstacle course while carrying a punching bag, with the winning team getting a prize that none of the players wanted to be without. Then Dr. Huizenga met one-on-one with contestants to reveal the results of their medical exams and what the future holds if they don’t lose weight, leading one contestant to storm out of the room when the truth was too hard to hear. Later, the weigh-in at the ranch revealed which contestant headed to trainer Bob’s Harper’s “Comeback Canyon,” while the weigh-in at “Comeback Canyon” ended with one contestant leaving the competition for good. Week three begins with the contestants competing in two challenges this week to gain pound advantages at the weigh-in. The first challenge tests their nutrition knowledge, with their trainers consuming food for each incorrect answer. The “Wall of Glory” is revealed in the gym, showing contestants when they were top athletes, inspiring them to work ever harder in the gym. Then trainers Dolvett Quince, Jessie Pavelka and Jennifer Widerstrom help out at an endurance challenge before a weigh-in determines who will be headed to the surprise “Comeback Canyon” location with trainer Bob Harper and which of Bob’s two eliminated contestants will be headed home.

The contestants all make there way to the gym, the trainers have a big surprise for them all once they get to the gym; they let them all in and inside they see a hall of fame with each of them in their prime. Scott thinks back to his times in the NFL, he really remebers the whole thing so well, it’s almost like a dream now. Lori remembered how she felt in the past and it made her realize she has never felt like she’d every live that moment again. Woody says he married right after that photo and it really hurts him because his wife did die of cancer; he loved her so much and misses her. Jessie says that no matter if you’re an athlete or not, you want to be the best person you can. Now the contestants all hit the gym doing their workouts. Dolvett wants his team to go back to how they looked in the past.

Dolvett is going to make them work hard today and prove they want it, Jessie says that motivation is everywhere but you also need the inspiration to hold you because without the two you’ll never progress. Jen says that training as an athlete is a different level of intensity, she wants her team to be great. Rondalee wants to live her glory days again, she misses the confidence she had back then again. Damien misses being a champion, he can’t believe how he let himself go. He wants to be the best he can, he wants to surpass his prime. Jessie asks Lori whats wrong, she starts to cry and goes down; she is trying her best but misses her son and husband. Jessie feels like she is not understanding this chance, because she has her whole life to be with her kid and husband; but this time at the ranch is a once in a life time moment. Damien keeps pushing Lori as well, telling her she can’t give up now.

Lori is now crying, Jessie tells her she simply doesn’t know her full potential because she hasn’t done it in so long.

Each team right now his 5 minutes in the nutrition room to learn all they can about it, then they will have to come back and take a small quiz about nutrition right after; the teams go in and see all the food inside. They start to realize how horrible the foods like pie and such are for them, they can’t believe how shocking it is to see how many calories all their favorite foods are; they are understanding why they are the way they are now. Damien feels like he is ready, having done a good job cramming for the quiz.

They will have 7 items to look at and decide their answers, the winner gets a 2lb advantage on their weigh in. Now they find out that the trainers will have to eat unhealthy food if they get answers wrong, first up is a slice of pizza; they have to guess if it is over or under 25g of fat. All teams think it’s over, which is correct.

Next question up is if the serving of pasta carbs over or under 65g, all the teams guess under and are correct. Next up is pecan pie, is the calorie amount over or under; blue and red are wrong; only the white team get it right. Now Dovett and Jessie have to eat the pie. Dovett is really not happy to eat it.

Now it’s a hamburger, they have to decide if the calories are under or over 1,550 calories. Only the blue team get it right with under, now Jen and Dovett have to eat it. Now it’s the Chinese veggie egg rolls over or under 400 calories, Only the white team get it right; now Dovett and Jessie share it. Dovett feels gross eating it.

Now it’s the eggs if they have over or under 28g of fat; the white team won this challenge and are super excited. Jessie is the only one to eat the eggs. Jordan feels his team has to step it up and need to to start winning.

Now we see Bob working with Andrea and Emmy in comeback canyon, they are working hard and are giving it their all.; Bob believes in the two of them. Emmy admits about being bullied because of her weight, they would always make fun of her and make oinking sounds at her; it’s very heart breaking. Bob tells her the only way she can change this all is to make sure that she has portion control, though knows she can do it; she has the focus and determination to change herself.

Jen found healthier ways to make her favorite food, she wants to teach her team all of it now; making healthy food taste good. She makes a less pasta with more veggies and meat, the team help her cook it and actually love the food.

We are now at the second part of the challenge, the winner of this challenge gets a 4 pound advantage on the scale; the contestants will have to go on resistance bikes and they can only put five riders on the bikes. Though trainers can put subs on to replace those who are super tired, the challenge starts now.

Red team is so far in the lead of this challenge, all the contestants are pushing themselves to their limits; the white team takes a different approach with subbing more people than usual. This technique is not helping them, they are in last place; blue team is now in the lead.

The winner of the challenge is in fact the white team, they now have a 6 pound advantage at tonights weigh in; almost assuring that they will not have a teammate go home tonight. Though, they can choose to take letter from home or take their advantage; they decide to keep their advantage so blue and red get letters from home.

The blue team are back at their quarters and even though they lost, they are super happy to get letters from their families; the red team is feeling the same way about it all. The teams are sharing each others letters.

The red team is outside playing football right now, they need to become a great team that supports each other; they are going to get closer together with playing this game. Scott keeps teaching them the game, he wants them to all enjoy each others company and depend on one another. He wants them to pull in a big number at the weigh in, he wants his whole team to stay tonight. Dolvett ate so many calories in the first challenge, it makes him sick and he’s going to push his team so hard with their final work outs. Dolvett is very impressed with Scott, he is working very hard to better himself.

The trainers are pushing everyone to their limits, they want to make sure each of them lose all the weight needed to make sure they dominate in the weigh in.

Bob says it’s really challenging having to lose someone every week, but now it’s Andrea and Emmy in comeback canyon, the two will weigh in and who ever did better will stay another week; Andea only lost 4 pounds. Emmy has lost 6 pounds. Emmy beat Andrew and is in comeback canyon for another week, she loves being here and believes in herself completely.

First up is white team, Matt wil go up on the scale he lost seven pounds this week; Sonya is very proud of him. Rondalee is next, she lost only 3 pounds this week and she is not happy about it at all. Woody is up next, he lost 4 pounds this week; he is also disappointed in himself and wants to work harder. JJ is next, he lost 3 pounds giving another upset to the white team; he is very upset over it and is angry about it. Toma is next, he lost 6 pounds this week, he wanted to break the 300 mark but will be happy about doing so next week. Sonya is the last member from the white team, she lost only 3 pounds; the white team has not done well at all this weigh in. They are all disappointed in themselves.

Next up is the red team, they have to lose more than 28 pounds to beat the white team. Rob is up first for his team, he lost only 5 pounds and is shocked with that. Blake is next, she only lost 3 pounds and is very upset at herself; she can’t believe that’s all she lost. Jordan is next on the scale, he lost only 4 pounds; he is disappointed himself. Mike is up next and he lost 9 pounds this week, he is very happy with himself and that he could help his team so much. Scott is now on the scale and has to lose more than 7 to save his team, he lost 11 pounds. Scott is so happy about it, he can’t beleive he just did this for his team.

Now it’s the blue team, the first member up for the weigh in is Damien and he lost 9 pounds which gives his team an amazing start; he is so happy. Lori is next and only lost 3 pounds; she is very upset over it. Jackie is next and all she lost was 2 pounds, she doesn’t feel like this is good at all. Gina is next on the scale, she only lost a very disappointing. Chandra gets on the scale and sadly only lost 1 pound, she wasn’t the hero for her team. The blue team sadly is the team going to lose a teammates tonight.

Gina decided that she is going to vote for Chandra since she did lose the least amount of weight. Chandra went ahead and voted for Lori since she does miss home a lot. Lori went ahead and voted for Jackie since she only lost one pound. Damien went ahead and voted Chandra since her numbers were pretty bad, Chandra is the one going home tonight; she thanks them all for the time they shared together and assures them she will lose her weight.
