#Elementary begins with Alfredo at an AA meeting. He just earned his five year chip. Sherlock is there to support him. Alfredo mentions Libby, Tom and Sherlock and says they helped him clear five year and why he has his sights set on 10 years. Sherlock chats with Lloyd after the meeting and says he can smell whiskey on him. Lloyd says he’s not drinking but Sherlock taps a flask in his pocket and says he may be lying about why he’s there and accuses him of spying.

Lloyd says he’s there for help and Sherlock tricks him in guessing the fifth step. Alfredo comes up and Sherlock says Lloyd was just leaving. A woman is in an ambulance and in pain. The ambulance stops and they hear gunshots. The doors open and they tell the EMT to get out. She does and they shoot her too. Then the shooter gets in and drives them away as the woman begs him to leave her alone since she’s sick.

Next day, Marcus, Sherlock and Joan view the video of the shooting. Marcus says the woman in the ambulance fainted outside of a drugstore. Marcus says the footage is all they have and Sherlock asks for a paper clip. They head outside of the hospital where the shooting took place and Sherlock takes off his belt and messes with the sewer grate. He says it’s a shell casing the shooter couldn’t find when he policed his brass. Joan says the casing looks beat up.

Sherlock says it’s been used more than once and Joan is surprised. Sherlock says it’s called hand loading. He says they should look for other crimes with DIY ammunition. Joan says she never knew resuable ammo is such a thing. She asks Sherlock why he keeps looking out the window and he tells her he about the spy at the AA meeting. He says he may not be following him but the man was lying about why he was there.

Sherlock finds the case of Olivia Harris, a hooker that died from a hand loaded bullet. Sherlock shows her a person of interest in the case and she says that’s the shooter – his name is Wallace Turk. They bring him in and Sherlock asks about the woman he abducted. Marcus says they have blood spattered clothing, security footage of him pulling the trigger and they have him. Wallace says he’s looking at life either way and says he killed the ambulance woman.

Joan asks what he did with the body and he says he doesn’t remember. Sherlock goes under the table and Wallace asks why he’s touching his shoe. He says he won’t tell them where the body is and Sherlock says he found sand from a salt marsh. Joan asks if they’ll find a ping on his cell phone near a marsh. Sherlock comes to sit behind Lloyd (otherwise known as Anthony Sellers) at a band concert for a school. He asks if Anthony is surveilling him and he says no.

Sherlock says he’ll make a loud scene proclaiming them gay lovers in front of his son if he doesn’t talk. Anthony says he was tailing Alfredo and says he’s in a lot of trouble. Marcus and Gregson are at the beach where the ambulance is. Marcus has her ID and says he slashed her throat and gutted her. Gregson asks why Wallace didn’t just tell them where it is. Marcus says he doesn’t think Wallace killed her because the body was still warm when Marcus got there and he was in custody by then.

Marcus says the killer is still out there. Sherlock and Joan meet Marcus at the morgue. Joan looks at the body. Marcus says she was probably alive for three hours after Wallace left her. Joan says the perp is a leftie and sees a precision cut to her torso. The ME says some organs are gone and says she was healing and the organs were likely removed a few days prior to her death. Something was found up under her lung. Sherlock says her organs were removed to make room for narcotics and says she’s a drug mule.

Sherlock says she may have been desperate for a huge payday. Joan says that means the person who cut into her was being careful not to cut into the drugs and means Wallace is likely scared of the drug dealer. Joan says they also need to check out Maggie the mule. They go see her roommate who says Maggie doesn’t drink or smoke. She says they must be wrong. Joan says they just want to make sure whoever did this to her pays.

Marcus asks about her trip to Brazil. She says Maggie was struggling with her weight and went to Brazil for cheap gastric bypass. She says Maggie called from the airport in Brazil on her way back. She says she wasn’t home when Maggie got home from the airport. The roommate is upset and Joan offers to get her some water. Joan goes to the fridge and wonders if Maggie really did get that surgery. She says Maggie may have believed she had the surgery.

She says the fridge is full of post-gastric bypass surgery foods. They wonder if she was an unknowing drug mule. Joan says she got sick before Wallace could scoop her up and they had to take the ambulance with her in it. Marcus says they need to find the Brazilian surgeon. Gregson tells Sherlock, Marcus and Joan that the surgeon who operated on her is missing. Dr Escanso is married to Wallace’s sister. They wonder if the surgeon came to America but Gregson says his passport wasn’t used.

Sherlock says 40 pounds of medical grade heroin were stolen from a hospital where Escanso worked and they know Maggie couldn’t carry that much so that means a missing mule. Sherlock says the drugs may already be in New York. Sherlock says 40 pounds can be cut into 300 pounds of street grade horse and that means it would take some time. Marcus says he’ll contact the DEA. Sherlock says he has something to take care of before they go looking for drug lords.

He goes to see Alfredo and says he heard about some high end car thefts that involved moving costly cars. Sherlock asks if he still consults with the security system company. Alfredo says no and they had a difference of opinion. He says Castle Security hired Lloyd to look into him. Sherlock says he thinks Alfredo is moving the cars around. He asks why he’s doing it. Alfredo says they fired him and bad mouthed him to other clients accusing him of using drugs.

Alfredo says he can’t let that slide. Sherlock asks how long he can stay sober in prison. Alfredo says he’s not a friend and they’re addict-sponsor and that’s it. He tells Sherlock he can come talk if he thinks he might use, but the thing between him and Castle is none of his business. Joan and Marcus come to see Dr Ward to see Jenko Stepovich. Joan says the man runs a Serbian heroin syndicate. Dr Ward says the DEA was there last month and there’s confusion.

Marcus says don’t lie to them and slaps some truth on him. Ward says none of it is his idea. He says all of this gangster’s guys came in while he was cleaning Jenko’s teeth. Joan says they just want to talk to Jenko. He brings Jenko in who says he prefers to be contacted through his lawyer, not his dentist. Marcus tells him about the 40 pounds of heroin. Joan says there was a drought in the part of Afghanistan he buys from so he might be interested in this Brazilian product.

Jenko says he runs a construction business. Joan says a smuggler killed a woman and says if any of their heroin winds up in his dealer’s hands, the NYPD will be after him. Marcus says if they help him, it will keep the drugs out of the hands of his rival. Joan says helping them helps him and Marcus offers his card. Sherlock is doing research at home when Joan comes in. He says he’s looking back at a mystery manuscript in an unknown language from the 15t century about plants.

He says it’s rumored to be extra-terrestrial but he doesn’t believe it. She asks if Clyde is helping since he has the turtle on the table. He says Marcus called and says Jenko made contact. He tells her she should join the stakeout if she wants and she asks about his errand and if he wants to talk. He says he has concerns about the decisions of an associate who told him they’re not friends and to stick to the parameters of their relationship.

Joan gets a call from Gregson who says Jenko and the smuggler didn’t show and says Jenko was shot outside a house. Joan and Sherlock head to the scene and Sherlock thinks Jenko was meeting his mistress. Gregson says the woman’s name is Trisha and says there were shooters. Sherlock sees two different caliber weapons from two different angles. Jenko and his bodyguard are both dead. Sherlock says he thinks Jenko was killed by a traitor or rival syndicate not the sloppy smugglers.

Alfredo gets a text from Sherlock saying he’s struggling and needs to go to a meeting. Alfredo texts him back and runs out. A high priced lawyer named Sarah shows up to see Marcus and asks to speak privately. She says Dr Ward is her client. He says he knows who killed Jenko and says he helped them do it. The lawyer says her client is a victim and says he’s been bullied and strongarmed by Jenko and his cartel and he was in fear of his life.

She says members of a Chinese cartel came in and started cutting off his fingers to get information about where Jenko is and that Ward knew where he was because Jenko was dating a fellow dental patient. Ward says he knows where two dead bodies are and says it was all Jenko’s idea – the smuggling and surgery patients. He says he listened to Jenko and his men sometimes. He says a man named Turk is who they want. He says Turk had a doctor friend in Brazil.

He says Maggie wasn’t the first person they did it to but the third. Gregson says they found the bodies near the pond where Ward told them he’d find them. Gregson says it’s two people Hector and Missy who went to see Escanso for gastric surgery. Gregson says they also now think Escanso is in the US. Joan says it’s strange that the killer was more careful disposing of Hector and Missy but not Maggie. Gregson says Ward is giving them more information.

Alfredo calls Sherlock for bailing on the meeting last night. Two detectives come to see Alfredo and says someone stole 12 cars with Castle alarms and stacked them in an elevator. The cop says Castle told them to look at him. He says he took four buses, went to an AA meeting then a coffee shop across the street to wait for his friend who didn’t show. Alfredo realizes Sherlock did this and alibied him plus messed with Castle Security. The cops leave to check his alibi.

Joan and Marcus meet Sherlock at the ME to get the two other mule body reports. Joan says Escanso is still in Brazil. The ME hands Sherlock the reports who says Maggie’s case is quite different. He says the other two had their torsos filled with rocks and were sunk into a pond. They were sewed up with surgical precision and Joan says he’s right and it was a surgeon. She says she thinks she knows who it is. She says the sutures are multi-filament which is used for pediatrics and oral surgery. Sherlock says Ward is smart to strike a deal and may get away with three murders.

Gregson brings Ward and his lawyer back in and show them a yearbook of Ward back in the day and that they know his roommate was Escanso. Joan says Ward did all the real dirty work and says they found his signature stitches. The lawyer says this is outrageous and they misrepresented the meeting. Marcus says this was going well until Ward tried to sell to the Triads. Sherlock says he’s bad at this and he’s lucky the Triad let him keep his thumbs.

Joan says he tried for immunity to screw Wallace. Marcus says to look over his shoulder and says the first Triad they pulled off the street gave him up. They tell him to confess now. Sarah tells them they’re trying to scare him into saying something. Marcus tells Ward he won’t last a day in prison. The lawyer cautions him but Ward confesses. He says it was all idea and he is bad at this. He asks what they want him to do. He writes out his confession.

Ward says he didn’t like hurting those people and if there had been any other way. Marcus says to put it in his confession. Ward signs it and gives it to Marcus. As Sarah predicted, the Asian man he saw was a cop, not a Triad. Guy should have listened to his lawyer. Alfredo comes to see Sherlock with a newspaper with the car theft headline. Sherlock says he should be pleased that his slanderers are now humiliated.

Sherlock says no matter what Alfredo thinks, he’s his friend. He says it may not be in his best interests when it comes to his sobriety and says he’s firing him as his sponsor. He says he’s fond of Alfredo and cares about him outside of AA. Alfredo asks if he’s going to go sponsorless and Sherlock says he needs a new one and wants Alfredo to help him choose one. He agrees to go to a meeting and find him one there. Sherlock sighs and agrees to go.

Alfredo asks if their friends now, can he ask out Joan. Sherlock says that’s funny and Alfredo says he’s a funny guy and he’ll have to get used to it now that they’re friends.

THE END!
