Fifty Shades of Grey has created a media frenzy since the blockbuster film debuted on Valentine’s Day weekend, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. Apparently, the media are not the only ones in a frenzy – rabid fans are going in to a frenzy themselves after watching the movie, based on the racy books by E.L. James, they are rushing home to try out all of the new S&M and kinky positions they learned while they were at the theater.
According to the March 2nd edition of GLOBE Magazine, “An investigation has uncovered accidents, assaults, and even murders associated with the controversial erotica depicted in the best-selling trilogy of books that inspired the naughty film. And experts are warning fans not to get too carried away in attempts to replicate the kinky antics they see on the big-screen between characters Anastasia Steele, a college graduate, and domineering business magnate Christian Grey.”
GLOBE Magazine goes on to reveal that there have been multiple cases of people being serious injured after trying to recreate the bondage they witnessed in 50 Shades of Grey, and a serious spike in bizarre calls to 911 because people are stuck nude in precarious positions and handcuffed to furniture. GLOBE reveals that one case of S&M gone wrong resulted in death when a 31 year old man beat his girlfriend 123 times with a blackboard pointer while she was tied up with nylon tights. And, the damage that reenacting Fifty Shades of Grey can cause isn’t just physical, some women can be emotionally scarred by S&M and bondage.
If we can blame violence on video games, then it seems logical to blame the rise in S&M and bondage accidents on 50 Shades of Grey. So, today’s lesson in a nutshell: just because Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan can pull it off in the bedroom – doesn’t mean that you can. Know your limits people.
