Fresh Off the Boat Recap 2/10/15: Season 1 episode 3 & 4 “The Shunning; Success Perm”

Fresh Off the Boat Recap 2/10/15: Season 1 episode 3 & 4 "The Shunning; Success Perm"

On ABC tonight Fresh Off the Boat returns with another new Tuesday February 10, season 3 episode 3 & 4 called “The Shunning; Success Perm,” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Louis [Randall Park] urges the family to make new friends at a block party. Meanwhile, Eddie [Hudson Yang] tries to earn respect in the neighborhood.

On last week’s episode, Louis and Jessica clashed over how to raise the kids and how to run the restaurant. When the boys got straight A’s in school, Jessica decided that their school must be too easy and took it upon herself to give them more homework and tutor them after class. She took the same strict approach at the restaurant (no extra croutons for anyone!), so it was up to Louis to get her to lighten up on everyone.

On tonight’s episode as per the ABC synopsis, “when the cul-de-sac plans a block party to celebrate NASCAR, Louis urges the family to use the event to make new friends (and promote Cattleman’s Ranch Steakhouse). But Jessica has problems fitting in, especially after she befriends a beautiful trophy wife the roller blade moms don’t like. Meanwhile, Eddie schemes to win the respect of the neighborhood kids and Jessica’s sister visits. Meanwhile, Eddie’s cousin introduces him to hip-hop.”

Don’t forget to join us for our live recap tonight at 8:00pm when Fresh Off the Boat season 1 episode 3 & 4 airs on ABC. While you wait for the recap, let us know what you think of Fresh Off the Boat!

Tonight’s episode of Fresh Off The Boat kicks off with Louis ranting about Jessica’s family coming in to town, her sister and her husband Steve. Eddie is excited because that means that his cousin Justin is coming – and he was the first person to introduce him to NWA and hip-hop. He can’t wait to show Justin his new Tupac CD.

Jessica and Louis are freaking out, they don’t want to know their inlaws to know how poor they are. They make Evan and Emery sleep in the pantry because they don’t have enough bedrooms, and then they fill the house with fake lemon trees and get “success perms” because if Asians have curly hair that means they are doing well.

Steve, Kelly, and Justin finally arrive. And, Louis is crushed when he sees that Pete got a “success perm” too. Meanwhile, Kelly flaunts her new boob job and laughs that her boobs are so big now she had to “give up jogging.” Louis is baffled when Justin gets out of the car and is wearing a Nirvana t-shirt and does not listen to hip-hop anymore. Eddie and Pete argue over whether his car is new or used, and the kids help Jessica’s mom out of the car with her walker. Kelly tells Jessica that she isn’t their mom’s favorite anymore because she abandoned her and moved away.

Pete brought along his own computer so that he can check on his furniture store’s web page – they stand there and wait for the model to connect via dial up. Eddie’s mom is sitting on the couch knitting, Jessica’s mom joins her and they argue over whether or not OJ Simpson is guilty.

Jessica helps Kelly get situated in the bedroom – they argue over who is their mom’s favorite. Jessica insists that she can win their mom back by wowing her and taking her shopping for the greatest discount.
Eddie and Jessica are sinking fast – the only card they still have in their back pocket is to show off the restaurant. They head to the steak house and it is empty – it is clear that the restaurant is not doing well. Eddie yells at Mitch for not “packing the place” before they got there. Meanwhile, Jessica and Kelly spend the evening rushing to the bathroom to change their outfits and try to wow their mother with all of their bargains. Eddie finally snaps and confesses to Steve that the restaurant is not doing well – when Steve figures out that the “customers” are actually the waiters posing as customers.

The next morning Steve freaks out when he realizes someone stole his sports car. He calls the police and they inform him that it was repossessed because he owed several payments. Jessica and Eddie are thrilled – Kelly and Steve aren’t as rich as they have been pretending to be. Eddie and Jessica help Kelly and Steve pack up the mini van and they say their goodbyes.

THE END!
