Grimm returns to NBC tonight with a brand new Friday February 6, season 4 episode 12 called “Maréchaussée” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Nick [David Giuntoli] and Hank [Russell Hornsby] investigate a series of murders that lead to a mysterious Wesen bounty hunter; Juliette’s [Bitsie Tulloch] meeting with Henrietta results in more disturbing news than expected; and Viktor makes his way back to Portland with Adalind.
On the last episode, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) were finally off on their honeymoon, but that didn’t mean trouble wasn’t stirring in Portland. Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) were called to a shocking homicide at an abandoned residence many Portland locals think was haunted, even the survivors swear a ghost committed the murder. Meanwhile, on the heels of Juliette’s (Bitsie Tulloch) startling revelation Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) seeks the help of a mystical woman (guest star Garcelle Beauvais) from his past. #Grimm starts now. A motorcycle pulls up in front of a fortune teller’s business. The rider gets off and goes inside. A woman tells the client that she can’t interrupt Lazlo and says spirits can be unpredictable. She says if it works and he connects with her husband, he’ll change into a spirit. She calls in Lazlo who has a sheet of notes. He takes her name and says to say her husband’s name. She says it’s Louis and that she misses him and it’s hard to keep going. Lazlo says he feels his presence and he’s here with them.
He gets up and runs around then he woges. She’s startled and the other woman tells her to calm down. He says Louis is beside her and acts like he’s listening. He says Louis loves and misses her and thinks of her every day. He says he thinks about them meeting at Colonel White High School and that he likes her hair. He then does some theatrics and turns the woge off. The woman begs Lazlo to bring Louis back but he says Louis had to go. He says he can try again on Tuesday.
The woman says if she didn’t see him change into the spirit Fado she wouldn’t have believed it. She offers more money and the hostess says to come back Tuesday. The woman leaves excited and she tells Lazlo they made $1,500 and they’ll get more from her. Then the motorcycle guy, Jonathon Wilde, comes in and they ask what he wants. He says he wants pictures then woges into a manticore and stabs Lazlo in the chest with his tail spike. She screams and Jonathon goes after her too.
She screams as he stabs her in the chest with his spike as well. Jonathon snaps a pic of her with his tablet and leaves. Juliette tells Henrietta she needs her help and she says Renard told her. Juliette just wants it gone and Henrietta asks to see what she is. Juliette says she doesn’t know how and she asks how she did it before. Henrietta says she has to see it before she can help. J says she’ll try and squinches up her face. Henrietta woges into a hexenbiest and then so does Juliette.
J asks if she can help her but Henrietta says she has to practice controlling her woge. She tells her that she now has access to a primal force of nature. She says she’s only told Renard and is scared to tell the Grimm. Henrietta says she’s sure he loves her and won’t hurt her but it’s wise. She takes a bit of her blood and says she needs it to get her back to her true self. She puts it into a container and then says she’s going to see what she’s made of. She dumps in some powder and then a vial of liquid.
She blends it up and says it has to sit and will call when she has something to show her. Juliette leaves while the brew swirls around in the stoppered jar. Hank, Wu and Nick come to the crime scene at the fortune teller’s. Wu says it looks like a manticore attack. They go in and he says the landlord came by to collect the rent and reported it. Nick agrees it looks like a manticore and they say it’s not robbery since all the cash is lying around the bodies.
He says the couple if Mabel and Lazlo from the Czech republic who have been in Portland about a year. They look over the appointment book and see the last one was at 7:30. They have the landlord outside and he says they paid on time and in cash. He says they told him they were married. He asks how they were killed and Hank says they’re working on it. He says they seemed normal for what they did. Hank asks if they ever told him how they told fortunes.
He says he got references but never checked them. They ask for the names. Wu says Ann Payton was their last appointment and they wonder if she’s the manticore. Renard is at his computer and sees that Viktor and Adalind came into Portland on a private jet along with a third guy. Anne shows the guys a photo of she and her husband right before he was diagnosed. She says the session with Lazlo was amazing and says a friend of hers referred her to them.
She says he turned into the spirit Fado and says his whole face changed into something different. She says he had fur and sort of looked like an animal. They ask who was with her and she says it was just she, Lazlo and Mabel. Nick asks if Mabel changed and she says no. She says she’s sure they helped her communicate with her husband. She says she wanted to talk to her husband again and then talks about how lonely she’s been since he died.
Jonathon’s motorcycle is parked at a cheap hotel and he looks at the photo of Mabel. A man reports to his boss that Jonathon sent confirmation that Mabel and Lazlo are dead. They were wanted on an outstanding warrant. The man says to pay Jonathon and his assistant says Jonathon also asked to take out Casey Darwell. There’s a big bounty on him. The man approves this hit and says no one will miss Casey at all.
Rosalee and Monroe get back from their honeymoon and she says it’s back to reality. He wonders if he should call Nick and tell him they’re back and she says she wants to know if anything is going on too and tells him to call. Nick, Wu and Hank report to Renard on the manticore and that Anne is not their killer. Nick says it may be a Wesen council thing. Monroe calls and says they had a good thing and he asks if he and Hank can come by. Monroe agrees.
Rosalee asks who’s coming over and he says Nick and Hank. Viktor and Adalind check into a nice hotel and he opens the door and shows her all the nice clothes he’s bought her. She asks if he did all this for her and he reminds her they’re in this together. He says they didn’t come all this way to leave empty handed and she agrees. There’s a knock and Viktor goes to get the door. He’s surprised to see Renard and says he didn’t expect him so soon.
[2015-02-06, 9:37:33 PM] Rachel Rowan: Renard says this reminds him of when his brother Eric came to town and asks if he ever found his killer. Viktor says not yet but they haven’t given up and think it’s a man named Meisner. Adalind reveals herself and Renard says he didn’t think she’d come back. She says she never thought he’d steal their baby. Viktor says they need to have some bygones for past mistakes. Adalind says it’s hard to forgive him for giving their baby to Nick’s mother.
Renard says he has no clue where his daughter is and no way to find out. Adalind goes for him but Viktor stops him and says he should put his official resources to work. He says they’re not leaving without the child and reminds Renard that those that wanted him dead are dead and says he should embrace the family as it is, not as it was. Renard tells them – welcome to Portland – and walks out. Viktor says they broke the ice.
Hank and Nick come in followed by Wu. Monroe asks how he is with all this and he says he’s getting through it. They tell Monroe about the manticore killing of two wesen fortune tellers. Rosalee says if they were woging during fortune telling they were breaking Council Law and they may have sent a wesen bounty hunter after them. Rosalee says if it’s council, he should stay out of it but offers to look into it. Juliette is cooking dinner and magics the salt into her hand.
She then tries for the pepper but stops when Nick comes in. The shaker whacks her in the head but he doesn’t see it. He picks the pepper mill up off the floor and she tells him a convoluted story about how she got hit with it. A woman is chasing Casey down and says she’s tired. He woges and threatens her – she looks like a working girl. He scares her and she says she’ll do whatever he says. He tells her to work twice as hard to prove it.
Casey makes a call and then Jonathon walks up and Casey disses him. Jonathon takes his phone and throws it away then woges and chest stabs the pump. He snaps the pic and sends it off to the council guy.
Rosalee calls her council contact and says she’s not reporting but has a question and wants to know if there were two sanctioned kills in Portland. She’s told she’ll get a call back and they hang up on her. Monroe says maybe they shouldn’t have asked and she says they’ll find out. Hank says Lazlo and Mabel were living off the grid. Renard calls them into his office and says Viktor and Adalind are back in town and know that Nick’s mom has the child.
He says they made it clear they’re not leaving without Diana. He tells Nick to warn Juliette in case they make a move. Juliette is at work taking care of a dog and finished up with a doggy. Her phone rings and it’s Nick. He tells her that Adalind is back and tells her to be careful and that he’ll meet her at home. Juliette freaks out and woges and then all the dogs in the clinic start barking. Nick gets home and calls out for her. She’s not home yet.
He sends an email to his mom to warn her that the royals know she has Diana. Juliette gets home and he asks if she’s all right. He tells her that they know about Diana and that she’s with Viktor. Juliette says she’ll rip her throat out if she tries anything. His mom emails back with a photo of Diana that then self-deletes. He takes a call from work and says he has to go. He tells her to be careful and she nods.
The council calls Rosalee back and tells her to take no further action and they know about her relationship with the Grimm and tells her not to interfere and that if she does, there will be penalties. They hang up on her. Nick, Wu and Hank show up to Casey’s kill scene. Hank says the bounty hunter must still be in town. Wu says he found a witness who was hiding nearby. Nick takes a call from Rosalee who tells him that the council told them to stay out of the business or they’d be punished.
Nick tells them to stay out of it and says he’ll deal with it. Monroe asks him to hand off the case so he doesn’t piss off the council. Rosalee says this killer will not let him arrest him. The council guy gets a notice about Nick that says he’s interfered once too often. The council guy and his assistant don’t like the decision the council reached but it’s not his. They send the notice of a 300,000 Euro bounty on Nick to Jonathon the bounty hunter.
Hank says the victims all died from scorpion venom. Wu comes over and says they got clear fingerprints and matched them to Jonathon Wilde. Wu says he looked into similar hits and found a bunch of similar unsolved crimes. They also find out that he owns a bike and put out a BOLO. A beat cop spots the bike at the hotel.
Viktor has Sam running down Nick’s mom and says he thinks she’s close by. He says to just let him know where she is but not to interact since she’s a Grimm. Nick gets a call from the beat cop and says not to engage. They head to the Beacon Hotel. Nick says he can make him woge then they’ll know. Henrietta’s experiment is done – the cap pops and foam pours out. She’s flummoxed.
Hank and Nick go arrest Jonathon and Nick says he knows what he is. The guy doesn’t woge so they just take him in. Wu wonders what if he’s not the manticore. They wonder why he didn’t run and Nick says he’s a professional but he’ll get him to woge. Wu asks Hank what if Nick is wrong this time. Nick tells Jonathon they have his fingerprint and heave him at the scene of the crime.
Jonathon says he paid for a hooker and that’s it. Nick says he knows he’s a bounty hunter for the wesen council and he plays dumb. They lock him up and tell the other cops to stay away from him. Wu says he got Wilde’s iPad and found the death photos of the victims and the bounty notices. Then he shows them Nick’s bounty sheet and says Jonathon didn’t woge because he knows who he is.
Jonathon cries and plays innocent to get a guard to come over then woges, stabs him and grabs the keys. At home, Juliette is practicing her woging when Henrietta calls. She’s grossed out by how ugly she looks when it happens. Henrietta tells her to come now. She grabs her coat and heads over. She shows her the spot in her table that the flask’s mixture ate through and says she’s never seen anything like it. It ate through the table and then the floor.
Henrietta tells her she’s extremely powerful and says she is what she is and there’s nothing that can be done to change it. J gets mad and woges and stuff starts rattling. Henrietta slaps her and says she has to get it under control and learn to live with it. J says no and rushes out. They show Wilde’s iPad to Renard then Wu comes and says Jonathon escaped. Renard says he’ll be coming after Nick and he runs out in a panic worried about Juliette.
Nick calls to warn her but then Jonathon is there, grabs the phone and tells Nick to come alone. J tells Jonathon to get the hell out of her house. He tells her to stay out of his business. He slaps her and says maybe Nick should come home and find her dead. He woges and goes to stab her then she throws up a hand and it stops him in his tracks. She grabs his tail spear and stabs it into his own chest. She turns off her woge and is pretty calm. Nick rushes in and asks where he is. She nods.
Nick asks what happened and she says he missed. She says she was lucky and he says he’s sorry. She says he can’t protect her but she can protect herself. The council guy gets word that Jonathon is dead and says he hopes the council doesn’t take it personally. His assistant said they better hope that the Grimm doesn’t take it personally.
