Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have been married after less than a year of dating. Well, there’a a shocker, considering we all knew how desperately they both wanted the attention. I mean, let’s be real – Nikki and Ian got engaged in January after only six months of dating, so is them getting married now really that much of a stretch? They could probably sense that the interest in their relationship was waning, and thus, wanted to get married to take advantage of the leftover buzz from The Vampire Diaries. After all, the show’s entering its last home stretch now that Nina Dobrev is leaving [among other cast members]. One thing we know is Nina Dobrev is laughing – so glad to see these two out of her life.
According to reports, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder got married on Sunday, April 26 in Santa Monica. A source tells US Weekly, “Nikki couldn’t be more excited and thrilled to be marrying Ian. They’re both so in love and so happy.”
Technically speaking, Nikki had moved into Ian’s apartment in Georgia together, hence the increased awkwardness among the cast members on The Vampire Diaries set. But really, the main reason that Ian Somerhalder allegedly broke up with Nina Dobrev was because she wasn’t willing to settle down with him, and then he finally found someone who WAS willing to settle down with him – Nikki Reed. Obviously, he was going to marry her immediately, right? And whaddya know – they got married after less than a year of dating, which is quick even for the most seasoned Hollywood marriage and relationship veterans.
Now, the real question is – how long will they last? Nikki Reed doesn’t have a particularly good track record with marriage, considering her fairly quick marriage and divorce to American Idol alum Paul McDonald. And even though Ian lasted a couple of years with Nina Dobrev, his long-term commitments obviously don’t really mean anything in the long run, do they?
