Noah’s lawyer was facing a dilemma. John knew that in order to get his client off, he had to present an alternative suspect that had every reason as well to want Scotty Lockhart dead. And the one problem that John had in doing this was the fact Allison had been lying to everyone.

Unfortunately, John’s best suspect turned out to be Allison as is Noah’s Allison. Allison it seems had fought with Scotty on the night he died and the two had been overheard arguing about whether or not her child was theirs or if it truly did belong to Noah. And according to this witness, Scotty had been sure about being the father.

So naturally that paints Allison as a desperate woman with a secret. And in the right light, John could portray as a woman that would kill the lowly Scotty so that she could keep her relationship with Noah. You know the world renowned author.

And thereof Jon and his associate came up with several plausible stories that could then use to sell a narrative to the jury. Thus they had a story about Scotty possibly wanting Allison for himself that he threatened to expose her secret. And another scenario could be that Scotty was blackmailing Allison over their secret.

Yet they all had one thing in common. If John used them then he was essentially be throwing Allison under the bus. And so he was left in an awkward position where he couldn’t represent his client to his best capability because to do so could get his client’s wife arrested.

And that problem of his wasn’t helped by the fact Helen was wanting to play a part in Noah’s defense. Helen you see had come to terms with her divorce and that Noah had moved on but Allison must have still been a sore spot for her.

Helen had remembered right the period after she had made peace with Noah and the two still had the occasional fight. Although with their daughter Whitney, they were bound to have issues.

Whitney had been checking out her parents’ alma mater when she told her mom that she didn’t want to go to college. Instead she wanted to model professionally and she had already met a photographer that told her she had potential. So in Whitney’s mind, her future was set and she was going to be a woman completely different to her mother – someone that was independent.

However being at their old school had made both of her parents recall certain things that they had forgotten.

Noah had gone to the area as part of his book tour and he had invited both Whitney and Helen to stop by. Whitney had ended up enjoying herself and so she didn’t meet her dad later. But Helen had showed up at the reading and it made her think about the time when she and Noah were first married.

Noah had ended up taking money from his in-laws after his first book had tank and attributed that decision in his book as the beginning of the end so to speak. And so Helen admitted to being glad when his book failed. She said she had hoped that would be a turning point for him where she and the kids could finally be his first priority.

Thereof they both had regrets. And when they discussed their daughter, they realized it was better to allow Whitney to make the little mistakes so that she could feel comfortable with coming to them with the bigger problems.

Which is something she hadn’t done when she should have. But when it came time for Noah to give his side of things – he played off his banter with Helen as them being two drunk people that barely wanted to acknowledge the past. So maybe Helen was right when she said Noah couldn’t stand to take responsibility for his mistakes.

After all he had a problem when Allison turned his office into a nursery for the baby even though she was technically close to her due date by then. And by the looks of it he’s going to be missing his child’s birth because of a minor flirtation with his publicist.

But on tonight’s episode of “The Affair”, Helen did what John was too afraid to do. She stole Allison’s baby’s pacifier and she gave it to John to have tested.

THE END!
