Klaus is searching for Finn and can’t find him. He calls Marcel to tell him and says he’s going to try and get Davina to help and tells him to keep Kol alive. Marcel says he got bit by one of the werewolves. Klaus promises to get him his blood and get him out whatever it takes. Marcel is hallucinating from the wolf blood sickness. He thinks back to Klaus telling him he’s not leaving the house – he’s enlisted for World War I. Klaus asks if this is because he forbade him to be with Rebekah.

He tells him to remember that this is his home and he is his family. He says family are the ones who fight for you and that you fight for. He tells him that he is fighting to keep him from making an error of the heart and asks Marcel not to abandon them. He takes his back and goes but Klaus shouts out that the prodigal son always returns home. Now, the vamps are hungry and look to Marcel who says he’s home and it’s the last place he wants to be.

Marcel looks at the wolf bite on his arm. Kol asks what’s up with the bells. Marcel says it’s Carillon Eve when the ghosts walk among us. Marcel threatens him and Kol says he knows he won’t let him die because of Davina and Rebekah. He locks him back in the room and leaves. Marcel is getting woozy. He’s back in WWI and sees himself in France in 1918. Another soldier, Joe, tells him he’s seen him take bullets to the guts and keep going. The man says he thinks he’s something else.

His unit is called the Brotherhood of the Damned. Their officer is killed and they tell Marcel to lead them. Gia pulls him out of his daze and he says he’s just hungry. Davina draws a chalk circle and he says her spells are lame if she can’t find Finn. She says he’s blocking her spell and says to stop standing over her so she can work. She says she wants to get Kol out of his house alive and reminds him that Kol is his brother. She chants and says she caught glimpses of him and says he’s combining totems.

He asks where and she says he’s in the Lyonne tomb in Lafayette tomb. She says he’s channeling your parents. Klaus says he thought he was the poster child for least grateful offspring. Finn chants and Klaus goes down before they can head out to put an end to his spell. Cami talks to Elijah about how to channel his troubles. He tells her he personally met with Freud and she mocks him for name dropping the great man. Then she talks to him about the red door.

He says it’s from his youth. He says it was a door to a slaughter house where unspeakable deeds dwell in darkness. She asks if there have been many and he says he’s no stranger to dark deeds but can usually control himself. He says his deeds are concealed behind the door. She asks why that door. He says it’s where the first woman he loved told him she loved him and where he laid her body after he took her life He says Klaus doesn’t know and can’t know.

He says he needs to forget too. Finn does some more magic and Elijah staggers then collapses. Gia asks Josh what’s wrong with Marcel. Gia comes for Kol and he knocks her back with some magic but then Finn knocks him down with some magic. All of the brothers are in some magical place – a hunt room Kol tells them. He says their bodies are back in the real world and Klaus says this must be Finn’s work. Finn walks in and tells them they can’t touch him there.

He tells them to make themselves at home and will be there awhile. Aiden hands over all the moonlight rings to Jackson and Hayley and they tell him the wedding is in 10 days. Jackson tells him to spread the word so that any wolf that wants the power can be there for the big event. They’re off to meet an elder they need to perform the ceremony then they have to go through the trials. Jackson tells Hayley they’re going to meet her grandma.

Davina tries to slap Klaus awake but can’t. She hears his phone ring and answers it – it’s Cami who tells her Elijah collapsed too. She says Finn did this to all of them but she has no idea what to do. Finn tells Klaus this is more comfortable the box he held him in for 900 years. Klaus asks why he brought them there. He says he didn’t for Esther to drink blood. Finn says he wants him to know how it feels to be powerless so he’s going to take New Orleans.

Elijah tells him to release us and Finn says he will after sundown when the barrier drops and Marcel’s hungry vampires break out and eat the city. Kol says his body is at the feet of some very hungry vampires. Finn gives Kol a nosebleed to make it worse. Gia and Josh are even more tempted and Marcel tells them he’s been at war in the trenches starving and fought it then and they can fight it now. He sees Joe and we’re back in World War I in the trenches.

He tells Joe they have no gas masks or rations, just cocoa. He offers Marcel his arm to feed. He says never one of them but catch him a German and he will. Marcel is called to HQ. There’s a pile of fancy food there. It’s Klaus. He asks why he’s there and he says he brought him dessert. Two women offer him their necks and he tells him to have his fill and come home to New Orleans. Marcel backs off and says he has to get back to his men.

Klaus tells him his place is at home with his family. Marcel tells him he’s with family and for him to go home. Now, Marcel sees Joe with blood dripping from his mouth and they see the wolf bite on Marcel. Josh says he needs Klaus’ blood and he tells them to keep their mouths shut about this. They hear the bells outside as the parade begins. Marcel reminds her that lots of people on earth have been hungrier than they are now.

She tells him he’s supposed to be their leader and he sucks at it right now. Marcel looks out on the balcony at the hungry vampires. Joe stands beside him. He tells him they don’t all get to get out of this alive. Davina stares at Klaus’ unconscious body. Kol tells Finn he made his point and asks to put him back in his body. Elijah says he likes seeing him twist in the wind especially after what he did to Rebekah and Finn asks where he is.

Finn says maybe it’s time for Kol to go back and enjoy his mortal life. He sits up just in time for Marcel to save him from Gia. Kol tells him in a few minutes the barrier will drop at sundown and says the streets will be jam packed and they’ll eat the people and their secret will be done. Marcel looks past him at Joe. Kol says he won’t get out of this alive. Marcel says they all will. Hayley and Jackson are out in the woods and he says it’s just a bit further.

She says she’s a bit nervous and asks how many girls he’s brought there. He says none and Grandma Mary walks up them. She tells them they’re late and they need to get started. Hayley asks about the ritual and she rattles them off. They have to fast, tell secrets and link their hearts and minds. Mary says the ceremony won’t take if there are lies between them. She says she hopes they don’t have too many skeletons in their closet. Hayley says she can’t do it and tells Jackson she’s sorry.

Hayley walks off. Finn tells Klaus they should talk about their parents. Finn says he wants to talk about Klaus’ dad that he murdered. Klaus says severing parental ties frees you up. Finn says Esther knew that he wanted to know his true father but it wasn’t at the top of is list of his affections. He says now he knows it also wasn’t Rebekah since he left Kol to be eaten and Elijah emotionally crippled. He says that means Klaus has another secret and wonders if he killed his father because he learned it.

Klaus says the secret he cares about nothing and no one but Finn isn’t buying it. Finn says they have all the time in the world to figure it out. Jackson catches up with Hayley and he says he has secrets too. She says some of her secrets are not hers to tell. She says she lives with the Originals and among them, secrets can get you killed. He says she won’t like his secrets either. He begs her to come back and take it one step at a time and says they can stop if it gets to be too much. He says he’ll reveal his secrets first.

He says her secrets will be his and he will fight her demons for her and she’ll never be alone. He asks her to come back and offers his hand. Gia tells Marcel to explain why they can’t eat Kol. She asks how can he lead them when he lied. Back in WWI, Marcel is checking on his men and finds Joe near death. He asks him to make them into vampires to make the fight more even. He looks around at all the soldiers dying and bites his wrist.

He feeds his blood to Joe. Now, Marcel tells the vamps he’s sorry he let them down. He says the way they’re feeling, he’s been through it. He says he can help them and it will make them strong. He says at sundown the barrier will drop and there will be a parade of people. Gia says they have to feed and Marcel says they can’t feed on locals or else they will lose their home. Gia says that code of his is the same that won’t let him tell them he’s dying.

Marcel says he’s not. He says he has a vial of Klaus’ blood at his place plus enough stored blood for all of them. He tells them to all head to his place across the river and says he’ll help them. The bells ring and the barrier is down. He says – let’s go. The vamps move out. Kol watches from the balcony. Finn tells Elijah it’s a shame they’re going to lose the city and says they’ve suffered a lot – the loss of his child, their father, man things.

Elijah says the facade is dependent upon knowledge of the subject and says he doesn’t truly know him. Elijah tells Klaus that he allowed their Mother to hide that he killed Tatia. He says he hunted her down and tore the flesh from her body. Finn says it changes nothing and doesn’t change the magic. Klaus says his brother is even more depraved than he is and is the noble stag no more. Klaus says he’s failed in his representation of him because he never thought him capable of forgiveness.

He lays his hand on Elijah’s shoulder. Klaus says Finn never learned the bonds of family outweigh all. They overcome ancient feuds and petty jealousies and allow one monster to pardon the great sins of another. Klaus says Finn’s magic is flawed and Klaus and Elijah are released from the spell. They both wake. Davina asks about Kol and he says he’s fine. He tells her to come with him and she says she’s been waiting on him to move his ass. They head into the Quarter.

Marcel and his people are moving through the crowd fighting their hunger. Back in WWI, Marcel tells the soldiers he’s changed about hunger. He says the Germans are coming and think they are walking over corpses to take the town. He says they are family and blood determines who you fight for. He says tonight they feed on the blood of our enemies. He says – we are the brotherhood of the damned and we cannot be defeated. They charge through gunfire and keep marching.

So now he walks the vamps through the crowded Quarter. Back in WWI, they walk through the battlefield and bullets and even onto bayonets and latch onto shocked German soldiers and begin to feed. In the Quarter, Marcel collapses. Davina and Klaus go looking for them. She says everything looks fine. They split up to look around. She sees Kol and smiles. She runs to him and he kisses her. Marcel wakes and Gia tells him welcome back.

She says she fed him some of Klaus’ blood. He checks his arm and sees it’s healed from the bite. She says they’re all digging into his blood bags downstairs. She apologizes for being a pain in the ass. He tells her only the weak don’t challenge authority. Finn shows up and gives them a slow clap. He says he did something to the others but says it’s reversible. Marcel says his brothers are hiding a secret and he wants it out of him. He starts some magic.

Klaus calls to check on Elijah and the baby and tells him that Marcel and his vamps have disappeared without explanation. He tells Elijah they need to remain focused on their common enemies. Aiden shows up and he asks him to question the wolves to find out where the vamps are. Aiden says the wolves have all gone to hang out with Jackson and Hayley. Klaus isn’t happy to hear about one ritual that involve a plant that’s known as a truth serum.

He asks where Jackson took Hayley and he says back country, deep bayou. Klaus says he has to go chat with the bride to be to remind her that some secrets have to stay buried. He takes off.
