The Young and the Restless (Y&R): JFP Explains Why Adam Guilty of Delia's Death - Long Term Storyline Reveal

“The Young and the Restless” (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the writers of the daytime drama had to implicate and convict Adam Newman [Justin Hartley] of Delia’s [Sophie Pollono] death to fuel the Newman/Abbott family feud. And, not just now, but after Victor [Eric Braeden] and Jack [Peter Bergman] are retired [years down-the-road].

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers teased for months that Adam Newman was going to be vindicated when Sage Newman [Kelly Sullivan] revealed during his trial her part in his transformation. Sage was supposed to tell the court that Gabriel Bingham [Justin Hartley] was the driver who ended Delia’s life way too soon.

As a last-minute switch-up, according to Jill Farren Phelps, (in SID) the writers changed the script, giving Adam a guilty verdict with a heavy-handed sentence.

The official spoilers seemed to change a few weeks ago – shifting from Adam’s innocence to accepting his guilt. Executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps gave an insight to why the writers had to change the script, even though they were aware it was a direction they knew the fans would not embrace.

JFP explained the writers were thinking long-term, and not what may make the fans happy during one sweep month. Head Scribe, Chuck Pratt, Jr. stated that they had to feed into the Abbott/ Newman family feud and keep it going long after Victor, and Jack were off the show [retired].

“The Young and the Restless” 2016 spoilers tease that Victor will finally meet his match and this time; he may not be able to charm or buy his way out of the jam.

It looks like instead of using Gabriel Bingham to vindicate Adam; the writers are using Luca Santori [Miles Gaston Villanueva] to give Victor one heck of a challenge.

“The Young and the Restless” writers seemed to have axed the Gabriel Bingham/Adam Newman plot and replaced it with Luca Santori/ Marisa Sierras [Sofia Pernas]/ Victor storyline— teasing that Luca will bring Newman Enterprises down by using his street smarts and his crime family’s connections.

Is it possible that the writers decided mid-sweep month to change the script, and completely flipped the dynamic of the show?

Do you think that Chuck Pratt, Jr. and Jill Farren Phelps are right, and Adam had to be convicted of Delia’s death to continue with the Abbott/Newman family feud? Or is this a lame way for Y&R to go, does this JFP explanation for Adam’s conviction sound ridiculous?
