Abuddin is entering a new phase for the country. One filled with optimism and hopefully a future that many of them could have only dreamed about. Yet, even without an ongoing war with the caliphate, the fight continues on tonight’s episode of “Tyrant” to see who will have a place in this apparently new world awaiting them.

First, the Arab League finally decided to take notice of everything that has happened in Abuddin in these last few months. And it seems they’re stepping in as a means to ensure that nothing “else” like the Saran gas explosion will happen. So Jamal knows that their arrival/ interference can mean nothing good for him.

Technically he wasn’t the one that ordered an attack on his own people. Yet the buck stops with him even if it was his general that went behind his back.

So Leila is going to use that against him. She later approached the League with a deal. She said she would testify against her husband as long as her son was given a place at the table when the dust had cleared.

And though they tried to deny her request, Leila knew differently. The party that was sent by the Arab League was acting with the League’s full authority. So Leila told him they wouldn’t have anything on her husband without her and that she wasn’t until she was assured of Ahmed that she’d talk.

Yet Ahmed isn’t the only option or Al-Fayeed left on the table. And that’s something other parties, such as the Americans, know firsthand. In case anyone has forgetten it was the Americans that looked towards Basam as the future of Abuddin. So it was no surprise that they reached out to Molly again once they found out Barry was still alive.

Not only was Barry alive but he’s now become a beacon of hope for what he did as Khalil.

So the people already adore him and they won’t give him without a fight. See, Barry was going to return to the States with his wife and son. And for a second it looked like he was going to return to being just Barry. Yet Sammy told him about a rally.

It began with students and millennials until eventually it grew to an out of control rally that wouldn’t disperse without Barry at least showing. So Barry had to go and he had to speak. Though he didn’t speak about himself.

He told the people of Abuddin that were chanting his name that they should demand rights for themselves. And that if they worked together then maybe the can bring an end to dynasties and start having free elections. Ones that aren’t manipulated by anyone desperate to stay in power.

And Jamal saw all of this on tv.

Jamal had planned on bringing Barry back into the fold but he couldn’t. Barry simply wouldn’t take anything he had to offer. Nor could he be manipulated into believing that Jamal would change if he had his brother by his side.

So by giving that speech he pulled a nail in any dreams Jamal might have had. And without his brother, Jamal was in a vulnerable place when he heard about his wife.

Leila at least had done him the courtesy of telling him to his face that she was the one that talked to ICC. Furthermore she didn’t bother trying to hide her reasoning. Leila told him that she was doing what she had to and that he brought this on himself.

And without anyone standing by him, Jamal chose to step down as president in exchange for a lighter sentence for his war crimes.

Thus everything was going the way it should. But no one counted on Mahmoud. Mahmoud was a general under Jamal and Leila had promised him immunity.

Unfortunately that was a promise she couldn’t keep. So when Mahmoud found out he would be charge alongside the president – he switched allegiances again. And provided Jamal all the evidence he needed to blame the attack with Saran gas on Tariq.

Which means Jamal had found a way in the final hour to stay on as a president and was in fact in the middle of giving a televised speech about how he wouldn’t let foreign meddlers manipulate their country when Nusrat shot him.

She shot him more than once and despite having Barry on the scene – it doesn’t look like Jamal is going to make it.

Or that Leila will mourn him.

Her final words on the matter was that “this was justice”.

THE END!
