Taylor Swift’s absence at the MTV Video Music Awards might be because of fellow chart topper Beyonce. There’s speculation that Taylor Swift is not attending the 2016 Video Music Awards because Beyonce might have used her power and influence to ban her from the show according to MTO.
Even though Taylor Swift’s summer feuds with Calvin Harris, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian has given her more bad publicity than she’s ever seen in her career, it’s Beyonce who is calling the shots when it comes to her and MTV. Apparently, Beyonce banned Taylor Swift by refusing to perform if Taylor Swift would attend the show.
After all, it would have been Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s first red carpet appearance together and Beyonce knows all too well how the couple would detract media attention away from her. Beyonce has made it very clear in the past that any MTV Video Music Awards that she attends automatically becomes the Beyonce Show, with everyone talking about what she wore, how she danced and her overall performance for weeks to come.
Yet, according to People Magazine, sources close to Taylor Swift say that she was never scheduled to attend the MTV Video Music Awards. Instead, rumor has it that she is scheduled to fly to Australia to visit her boyfriend Tom Hiddleston. Since her feuds with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Taylor Swift has been very quiet on social media, as she knows anything she does or says at this point might be scrutinized by the media.
It’s not enough that she’s been attacked on Twitter by her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, she’s also been mocked by Taylor Swift and a good number of fans who no longer believe in her good girl-next-door image who is always the victim in her celebrity feuds.
Otherwise, if Taylor Swift stays in New York City, there would be no reason for her not to attend the MTV Video Music Awards, especially since her presence would definitely help boost the show’s ratings. What’s more, CDL knows that it would be highly unprofessional for Beyonce to ban Taylor Swift or any other artist from an awards show for that matter.
