“General Hospital” (GH) spoilers tease that Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) may not be quite as dead as we think. Could an imposter have been killed in Duke’s place? Remember that Duke has been believed to be dead before yet turned out to be alive and well. Could it happen again?
It sure looked like Duke was mortally wounded as he lay in Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) arms on the docks, but that doesn’t mean that’s the truth. This is Port Charles after all. People routinely come back from the dead.
In the last two years alone, Jake Spencer and Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) were resurrected. Duke was in bad shape when he got to the hospital and was taken into the ER where he supposedly died even though Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) tried to save him.
General Hospital spoilers as how could Duke have died in the ER yet still be alive? Remember Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) traipsed around Port Charles for quite a while in a Duke Lavery mask that was so authentic it fooled everyone – even those closest to Duke – even Anna who kissed the masked man.
Last we knew of Cesar, he was supposedly hiding out on the lam with his daughter Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). Last we saw of Britt was at last year’s Nurse’s Ball so she has not been around to confirm or deny whether her father is still alive.
Cesar is the primary one with a motive to parade around wearing a Duke mask. However, he might not have expected Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) to come gunning for Duke – or maybe he did. If it was Cesar in a Duke mask, he might have had on body armor and faked his death.
Alternately, Cesar could have been killed wearing the Duke mask. Or it could have been a Cesar minion under a mask that night. In a way, the events leading up to it make sense. It sure seemed out of character for Duke to cozy up to Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring).
Cesar’s plan may have been to get Anna to run away with “Duke” so he could take off with her out of town so she would be all his. After they left, Cesar could have revealed himself once he got her away from Port Chuck.
Or Cesar may have planned for someone wearing a Duke mask to die so that Anna would be heartbroken and perhaps give him a shot. Cesar’s brain is like a bag of spastic cats, so who knows what he thinks… Bottom line is that Duke may be languishing in a Cassadine or Cesar-owned prison to this day.
Whether or not this is the way the storyline plays out remains to be seen, but seems like GH fans would love to have Duke back – especially with Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) now in the picture. Griffin getting to meet his dad would be amazing.
Remember that masks have been used many times on GH in the past – there has been a Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) mask worn by Anna to get access to Cesar in prison – and Cesar wore not only a Duke mask but a Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) mask.
Plus, Liesl wore an Anna mask before. Who can forget that moment when Cesar asked Liesl to wear it while they made love? What a sad and horrifying moment… The bottom line is, masks have been used time and again on GH – so it’s not far-fetched that it could happen again.
