‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: UPDATE – Nick Stabile Exits – Tyler Christopher Returns After Nik Shot

'General Hospital' Spoilers: UPDATE - Nick Stabile Exits - Tyler Christopher Returns After Nik Shot

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that however shocking the Nikolas Cassadine (Nick Stabile) “death” scene was onthat  the July 19 episode, there’s little chance that the Prince is really dead and this may have been a plot device so that the actors could be switched out and Tyler Christopher could reclaim his role.

Remember Tyler left right after the “death” scene at Wyndemere although he had a couple of scenes on the airplane with Ava Jerome (Maura West). But then it seemed like the international flight over the pond had an effect on Prince Nikolas who was suddenly a whole new man.

General Hospital spoilers at the time hinted that the recast to Nick Stabile was all about Tyler Christopher wanting personal time PLUS there was talk of a contract dispute between the Nikolas portrayer and TPTB at GH and ABC.

This would not be surprising since there have been other contract issues this year most notably with Liz Webber portrayer Rebecca Herbst and then again with Franco portrayer Roger Howarth, although the network denied Howarth was in contract talks at the time.

Other General Hospital spoilers for coming days tease that Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) will come upon something horrifying – is it the seemingly lifeless body of her big brother Nikolas but with his old face back as it should be?

You may recall that when Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) and Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) had shut Ava and Nikolas in an upstairs room, they took their shoes even though they mentioned that there was no way to get out of the room because it was a “sheer drop from the balcony.”

That was information the GH writers were giving watchers for later so they knew, when Valentin shot Nikolas and he fell off that same balcony, he was tumbling over a sheer drop. Looks like they wanted us to believe Nikolas is dead and gone, but he wouldn’t go that easily, right?

It is rather ironic, though, that Nikolas faked falling off a great height to try and screw over Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) then ended up actually falling from a great height. General Hospital spoilers tease that he should survive and this is just a transition from actor to actor.

Don’t forget, Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) also just mentioned that there are laboratories down in the hidden areas of the Greek island mansion and there’s a doctor on hand with them – Kevin Collins (Jon Lindström) – so even if Nikolas is injured, if they have a doctor and medical facilities, perhaps he can be saved.

And also, it’s Cassadine Island – they could always just freeze him now and get medical attention later. The Cassadines loves to freeze people! We’ll see how it works out, but it would be an absolute jaw dropper if GH showrunners killed off legacy character Prince Nikolas.

What seems far more probable is this is a much more graceful way to reintroduce the original portrayer, Tyler Christopher, in a near seamless manner. General Hospital spoilers have teased for a while this was coming since Nick Stabile had tweeted compliments to Maura West on his time working with her.

Update: SOD has confirmed that Nick Stabile is finished his run on GH as Nikolas Cassadine. The official announcement of when Tyler returns on-screen to play his role has not yet been made but expect it fairly soon. Those who follow social media can see that Tyler has been much more active on Twitter of late – following a hiatus after he began his break.
