How’s an assault with a deadly weapon for a valentine treat? Apparently a woman by the name of Launa Cruz Had been enjoying what looked like a romantic getaway, at a rented house for the evening, when things manage to escalate at some point into a fight for the gun. And sadly that was not a fight that Launa had won!

She had been critically injured that night and the maid hadn’t found her until the next morning. Therefore, Launa’s odds at surviving weren’t that large to begin with though she was still hanging on when the guys received her case. And unfortunately it didn’t look like she was coming out of her coma by time they realized they needed her help in explaining why she was at a rented house owned by a company known to catering to cheating spouses.

And while the team isn’t usually quick to judgement, they couldn’t help noticing the two champagne flutes as well as the scattered roses. So their opinion had been that Launa was meeting up with a lover when instead her husband walked in and shots her for the infidelity.

However, there was one little problem with their theory. Launa had called HPD on Valentine’s day to report her husband missing and the wound on her hand showed that she had attempted to shoot someone although she ended up accidentally shooting herself. And so the guys then came up with the idea that maybe Launa had been the one to walk in on her husband with someone else which led to Launa attempting to shoot her husband.

And well the cops had later found out that someone had booked a call girl for that very house. So Kono had actually sympathized with Launa. She said that if she found her husband was spending Valentine’s day with hooker then she would shoot him too.

But the callgirl in question later said she hadn’t been at the apartment with Jack. She had been there with another man and, while she was giving the cops a description, she told him all about the guy who had asked for the girlfriend experience. Who had also given her lingerie.

So it did seem like maybe Launa had gotten the wrong idea about that house, but eventually her husband was found. And whoever killed him had gone out of their way to conceal the body as long as possible.

He had been found at another home with a single gunshot wound to the head. And if his wife hadn’t gotten into an accident of her own then who knows how long it would have taken for the police to find her husband’s body. Therefore, the guys had simply assumed that Launa had seemingly done what she had set out to do which was to find her husband.

It seems that someone had sent Jack an email two days before he went missing about a new client so odds are he had met up with that person. Yet that didn’t explain how Launa went from calling HPD in a panic to all of sudden showing up at someone’s place with a gun. So they looked into the man Launa had tried to kill and they found him based on his excessive spending on lingerie.

Apparently the only time that Michael Foxton had used his very traceable credit card was when he was buying something for the wife so the ladies at cashier had remembered him. And so the detectives were able to get his address from that though the actual man himself hadn’t proven to be as helpful. He later claimed that he had never met either Launa or her husband Jack before.

So he claimed to have been just as surprised when Launa busted in on him with a gun. Though that was about as far as Michael got because he had passed out right there in the interrogation room. And the doctors later admitted that they too were surprised that Michael had had a heart attack. Especially as he was supposed to be taking medication for that.

Although, you know who controls the medication that hadn’t been found in his system? His wife! And it was this betrayed wife that had a connection with Launa Cruz.

Both women were members of the Makai Country Club and it seems they had formed a Strangers On a Train scenario because they both had airtight alibis for the night their respective husbands were targeted. So the detectives knew what they had on their hands but the only way they could prove it was if one of the women confessed.

Which sadly was no longer possible in Launa’s case. Launa had died from her injuries but the detectives had pretended that she was still alive and had even woken up in order to trap Michael’s wife. And so when Tessa Foxton had showed up to poison Launa – the detectives were finally able to put this case to rest.

But afterwards they all had to talk about their Valentin’s because McGarrett had a black eye that he was too embarrassed to explain.

So first he heard about how Lou had forgotten all about and had been caught with recently purchased chocolates from the nearby grocery store, then how Danny managed to upset Melissa because he hadn’t even put Love Danny on his Valentine’s card, and final about Kelly managed to get locked out of his hotel suite because he had bene trying to chase his runaway date but was forced to walk around in the lab in the world’s smallest towel.

And though Kono didn’t get to share in the embarrassment because her man had been away for the holiday, she too laughed about the fact McGarrett had gotten his black eye from a stray shoe. Lynn you see had apparently tried to do a striptease but she had kicked off her wedges too high and had hit McGarrett straight in the face.

THE END!
