Jamie Dornan Admits Filming ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Passion Scenes In France Following Terrorist Attacks Felt Frivolous And Wrong

It looks like Jamie Dornan has yet another reason in wanting to distance himself from the ’Fifty Shades of Grey’ franchise. The Irish-born actor, who has made it no secret that he hates being typecast as a sex symbol thanks to his role as sex-addict Christian Grey, admits that it felt wrong to film ’Fifty Shades Darker’ in France during the multiple terror attacks this summer.

Jamie Dornan and his co-star Dakota Johnson filmed their honeymoon scenes in the South of France during the Bastille Day attacks in Nice, in which 85 people died and at least two hundred more were injured. The actor admits that waking up the next day after the attack and going back to work on the set was the last thing he wanted to do, calling it both ‘frivolous and wrong.’

According to Comingsoon.net, Jamie Dornan said, “It was, as you can imagine, a bloody awful situation. You’d be affected by it wherever you were in the world. Then you have the strange thing of the next day still trying to make this movie that’s costing millions of dollars to put together…” he said. “There’s this contractual obligation to work the next day, which is a very strange environment to work in. It felt very frivolous and wrong to be making something as silly as a f**king movie the day after something like that happened.”

While there’s no doubt that the Nice attack shocked millions of people from all over the world, many critics will most likely see Jamie Dornan’s comments as yet another example of him biting the hand that feeds him. If it weren’t for his role in ’Fifty Shades of Grey,’ Jamie Dornan wouldn’t be the household name that he is today. Yet, he is always undermining his role with the franchise, as if he knows that it’s just another stepping stone before he gets what he really wants, and that’s to be seen as a serious, A-list contender in Hollywood.

Jamie Dornan’s concern with terror threats is understandable, but then again calling his work with the ’Fifty Shades of Grey’ franchise “a f**king movie” definitely reveals his true feelings about his work. As much as Jamie Dornan dreaded going to work the next day after the Bastille Day attack in France, his co-star Dakota Johnson did the same thing too, but managed to at least stay professional despite the circumstances and didn’t complain about it to the media.
