Tonight on FOX their drama Lucifer airs with an all new Monday, October 10, season 2 episode 3 called, “Sin-Eater,” and we have your weekly Lucifer recap below. On tonight’s Lucifer episode Lucifer’s mom (Tricia Helfer) returns, while Amenadiel, (D.B. Woodside) who is struggling with a loss of power, meets with Linda. ( Rachael Harris)

On the last Lucifer episode as per the FOX synopsis, “Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) investigate a gruesome murder after a video of the crime surfaces on social media. When a second video appears, they realize they have a serial killer on their hands. Meanwhile, Lucifer’s mom returns as Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer). Also, Amenadiel, struggling with his loss of power, has an appointment with Linda.”

Lucifer’s mother was creating a bit of a problem in Lucifer’s life. He had apparently agreed to let her live on earth for a little bit longer than his father wanted however he didn’t want his mother interrupting him when he was with one of his conquests and more importantly he didn’t want her around his brother. Amenadiel had actually been the one to deliver mom to hell so Lucifer thought it was best that she hides out in case Amenadiel tried taking her to hell again. But worries aside, his mother also had a problem with his career.
Dear old mom thought a human job was beneath Lucifer. Though he explained that he lived to punish and that’s what he gets to do with his job. So Lucifer had escaped his mother and the bonding that she wanted to do by going to see Chloe. Chloe had been put on a murder case that had unfortunately been broadcasted online so the detective knew how the victim died, but what she didn’t know was why the victim had been murdered so brutally. Nicholas Sand was one of the latest tech geniuses to come up with a new social media platform and he didn’t seem to have an enemy
However, Chloe had quickly found out during her investigation that Nick had crossed the line with one of his employees. Nick had sadly been burned to death and most of the accelerate had been on his genitals. So Chloe had a pretty good suspect when she found out that Nick had lit one of his employees’ crotch on fire as some sort of joke. Tommy as it turns had been the butt of all of Nick’s jokes and he ended up quitting after the crotch thing though the apparently never forgot what happened to him because he was still pretty upset when Chloe eventually called him for questioning.
Tommy had said that he didn’t know why Nick had hated so much however Nick bullied him from day one and didn’t let up until he quit. So Tommy was pretty angry and, with Lucifer working his magic on him, he later confessed to killing Nick. Yet, Chloe and Lucifer soon came to find out that Tommy couldn’t possibly be their killer. Tommy had been in custody and talking to them when someone posted a new murder online. And so the recent murder meant that Tommy wasn’t their killer, but that they did have a serial killer on their hands.
The serial killer, as they came to believe, was a punisher. He had punished Nick for what he did to Tommy by posting that video of the crotch fire online and he had also punished his second victim for posting something he shouldn’t have as well. The second victim was Adam and Adam had been asphyxiated by an apple gag that resembled the ball gag he had used on his ex-girlfriend. For Adam it seems had posted the sex tape of him and his ex as some version of revenge porn when she broke up with him and that video had later caused said ex-girlfriend to be fired from her job as a teacher because the school didn’t want the bad rep.
So Lucifer didn’t have a problem with the punisher because he thought that he was surviving just deserts yet Chloe was different. Chloe understood that this person was acting a vigilante when really they merely wanted a reason to kill and bad deeds simply gave them one. So Chloe didn’t understand why Lucifer couldn’t see that. But Lucifer had been acting out of character since his mother reentered his life. His mom had wanted to be a part of everything so she’s been showing up at the precinct and even dancing on top of tables at his club. And unfortunately his mother had also gotten into Lucifer’s head.
She had questioned why Lucifer still felt the need to punish people. She said that he hadn’t been like that before, but that his father made him that way when he put him in hell. So his mother asked him if he was still trying to win his father’s approval by punishing people. Yet, Lucifer denied that being the case and had actually gone back to Chloe because he thought they should stop the punisher. His about face though hadn’t fazed Chloe at all. Chloe had gotten used to some of Lucifer’s eccentrics and it’s not like he wasn’t helpful.
Lucifer had said something that had given Chloe an idea and that had led to suspecting that someone working at the social media site was their serial killer. Who sees videos before everybody else before they could be taken down and so who sees the very worst of people everyday? So Chloe realized that it had to be someone at the company and that it was probably one of the moderators. The moderators were the ones that decided which videos stay up and which ones get taken down. Though Lucifer saw the batch of moderators and he told Chloe that it couldn’t be any of them.
Lucifer had apparently looked at their cubicles and he said that they all had hope. One person had plants on their desk, the other had pictures of his children up on his cubicle, and the last had dreams of Destiny Child getting back together. So Lucifer said their serial killer had to be someone that had given up so he and Chloe had asked one of the employees who served as the moderator the longest and they found out that one of the bosses had actually started out a moderator before moving up. Lila as it turns out had used to date Nick and she had been at the fundraiser during the crotch fire incident.
However, Lucifer and Chloe thought it didn’t make sense for Lila to be their serial killer. They had questioned why Lila would ruin her own company and then get ready for her own death seeing as she had left some sort of message behind. So Chloe had pulled up the last footage they had of Lila and it showed that someone had had a gun pointed at her when she left the company’s headquarters so she wasn’t their serial killer though she was being held hostage. Chloe and Lucifer therefore went after Lila and found out that the serial killer was actually someone that worked closely with Lila.
The killer was Raymond. Raymond worked at the company and had been there about as long as Lila so he had been there during the beginning. So when they found Raymond, he was at the company’s servers with Lila and was going to set her on fire as well as the whole building. Raymond for some reason or another thought that it was best to take down the whole company. But Chloe had a plan to stop him and so she told Lucifer that it would be ok if he tried to talk to Raymond.
So Lucifer calmly tried to show Raymond that he wasn’t helping or being forced into doing anything. He had wanted to punish people because he liked watching them beg for help and took a certain vindictive pleasure out of killing them. Yet, once Raymond acknowledged that to himself, he was going set himself on fire along with everything else, but Chloe’s plan kicked in and she turned on the fire safety hazard before three people died. So Chloe was able to rescue Lila and arrest Raymond for his crimes.
Though Lucifer had learned something important about himself and having Amenadiel around wasn’t going to change his mind. Amenadiel had found out that their mother was back and he said that he was going to allow her to stay on earth however Lucifer had wanted to add something to that. Lucifer said that he liked punishing people and the best punishment for their mother would be if she had to live as a human. So Lucifer told both Amenadiel and mommy that she was going to have to live as Charlotte Richards.
Only Charlotte didn’t have super human strength nor could she kill people accidentally during an attempted mugging meanwhile his mother on the other hand was guilty of a lot of things.
