Mariah Carey is filming her own reality TV show – and Nick Cannon’s ex-wife has officially reached a whole new low that we didn’t even know was possible. According to a new report from US Weekly, Mariah is trying to make the whole thing seem a little less tacky by calling it a “docu-series.”
What exactly is the fine line between docu-series and reality TV show? Mariah Carey has a camera crew following her around 24/7, filming her at work at her Vegas residency, and at home with her friends and family. The reality/docu series is being pitched to networks by Mariah’s manager, who happens to be a well-known reality TV producer. Oh, and with a working title like “Mimi’s Squad,” how can you seriously argue that it is not a reality show?
It sounds like Mariah is trying desperately to do some repairs to her image after her messy Nick Cannon divorce, supposed meltdowns over the last few years, and allegedly horrible parenting to twins Monroe and Moroccan. What better way to try and convince the world you aren’t a total diva than by filming your own reality TV show, editing the hell out of it, and making yourself seem down to Earth while the cameras are rolling?
Of course, Mariah will probably also use this time to have a couple of PDA-fests with her billionaire fiancé James Packer, just to rub it in ex-hubby Nick Cannon’s face a little bit more. One inside source dished to US Weekly, “Mariah’s excited to show some personal family moments. It’ll definitely show another side to her.”
