Anderson Vaughan and Associates were put in an unusual predicament recently. The husband of one of their biggest clients had come to them for help on tonight’s episode of “The Catch”, but it seems he needed their help in proving that his wife (who they wished to remain on good terms with) had been cheating him. And so the firm was in put in the awkward position of having to choose between their actual client and the husband William that was willing to pay their fee.

Apparently a friend of William Etheredge had gone out one night when he spotted William’s wife Renee. So this friend was supposedly going to say hi to Renee when suddenly he spotted Renee meeting with another man for drinks and so that’s when this “friend” decided to take a pictures of Renee with this other man as proof of what he had seen. And then handed over these pictures to William.

So you could say this friend was the one that put everything in motion. Without him, William would have no reason to suddenly doubt his wife much less want someone to check up on Renee. Only now that the cat’s out of the bag William had wanted answers. And that’s why he asked Alice and Valerie if they would follow Renee around and see if drinks were as far as things got with the mystery man.

Yet, neither Valerie nor Alice felt comfortable in doing what William had asked. The ladies had worked for Renee in the past after all and they had also gotten to know the other woman really well in that time. So they didn’t believe Renee would ever cheat on their husband, they couldn’t deny that Renee and William sounded just a little too perfect on paper.

Renee and William had gotten married eleven years ago and they had two children that appeared to be doing really well in school. So no wonder Renee won her election for City attorney. She was the ideal of any candidate, but the ladies that once worked for her had wanted to give Renee the benefit of the doubt. And therefore they asked her to come to their offices.

And Renee once again proved to be a delight. She and the ladies had talked and they had pretended as if they had wanted to help her in her upcoming election yet Renee claimed that she wasn’t thinking that far ahead. So the conversation then turned to her private life and Renee had been asked about her husband. But for some reason, Renee said that she and William could never be better.

So Alice thought that was a lie while Valerie thought Renee simply had no idea about her husband’s suspicions. Either way, though, the ladies both agreed to see what was up with Renee and Danny helped them by cloning Renee’s cell phone. That way they could track her to see where she’s going and who’s she meeting with. And they were kind of surprised Renee lied to them about a meeting at city hall when in fact she met up with a mystery man.

Although it didn’t exactly look like they were trying to hide their meeting. Renee had been meeting up with Tony Ellis who was a big shot in construction and Renee had pushed some of his contracts through. Only Renee had never needed his political backing nor had she’d ever been involved with beforehand. So Alice and Valerie signed off on getting Ellis’s attention in order to find out more about him. And what they found out was that Ellis wasn’t Renee’s lover, he was her blackmailer.

Renee had been blackmailed into giving Ellis the contracts he wanted and it turns out he wasn’t even blackmailing her over something she did. He was blackmailing her because of her husband. William was a school superintendent, but back when he was a young teacher fresh out of school, he had gotten involved inappropriate relationship with his student. So that sort of thing could ruin his career as well as his wife’s.

But Renee hadn’t wanted to tell William about the blackmail. She knew her husband would come forward if he did and she didn’t want him to ruin himself just so she could get out from under Ellis’s thumb. So Valerie and Alice decided to come with a third option. One where they didn’t have to keep giving Ellis what he wanted and the couple was destroyed by the press.

So the firm found dirt on Ellis that they could use on him if he ever threatened either Renee or her husband again and, while they surely made an enemy out of him because of what they had done, that was something they could live with. However, what they could not stand was Agent Dao hacking Alice. Valerie had found out that Alice was still in contact with the man they knew as Christopher so she had confronted her about that. And the only way Alice knew she could get out of having to hear how gullible she was, was to tell Valerie that she was helping Agent Dao catch “Christopher”.

Though she left a few things out. Alice apparently didn’t think it was necessary for Valerie to find out that she had helped “Christopher” get away from the agent and the FBI after she decided not to turn him in. So she told her friend a story she knew the other woman could handle and she also told her about the bug Dao had placed in her apartment. And not that “Christopher” had helped her figure out there was a bug in her apartment as well as the one in her cell.

And therefore Valerie didn’t know that Alice hadn’t told her the full story. But she had wanted to help Alice. So Valerie agreed to lure Agent Dao into a trap while Alice chose to track down Ben. Ben had called her earlier because he had been asked to steal something and he knew the job was dangerous. Only he hadn’t counted on Alice tracking him down and getting him out of gunfire when he least suspected it.

So Ben had been happy to see Alice. She had taken him back to the apartment and patched him up yet she then stole from him. Alice had taken Ben’s bracelet and that was the same bracelet that Ben was supposed to give the benefactor he owed money to.

THE END!
