The Adams Foster looked like a happy home yet there appeared to be several troubling signs on tonight’s winter premiere.

Brandon as always came across as sort of a golden boy. He had recently been given the opportunity to play at a showcase at the Disney Hall. And while that was quite achievement by itself – he had also gained the notice of a notable professor at Julliard’s. Who had gone to say that she had seen potential in him and who also wanted him to properly audition in front of the Julliard Board.

However, Brandon wasn’t sure about Julliard. He knew that it was his dream to get in but he was also aware of how much it would cost him to attend the school if he were to get in. So Brandon didn’t want to put all his hopes on attending a school which in all honestly could deplete his entire college fund (that his grandmother had set up for him) within a year.

And therefore, Callie tried to be the supportive sister towards him. She told him that he should at least apply and see where the cards fall. Because she said you never know. Yet in the spirit of pretending like everything was normal between them – Brandon had then asked her about AJ.

AJ had recently lost his grandmother and, besides his brother, she had been the only family he had. So asking about AJ was a nice thing. Especially from Brandon who had once been quite jealous of AJ and Callie’s relationship.

But all their nice chats didn’t quite cover up the part where they slept together and are still trying to do their best to forget.

In the meantime, though, Mike had found out something he shouldn’t have. He had earlier taken a pen from AJ’s brother Ty and had then asked forensics to run it at work. But it looks like he had a change of heart after AJ’s grandmother passed away. So he had told his guy down at the lab to just let it go.

And unfortunately his friend hadn’t. Tests were carried out and sadly it linked Ty to an open case. And the those very same test results that incriminated Ty were accidentally passed off to Stef. Stef being Mike’s partner and who was assumed to be in on the case that Mike was working.

So naturally that upset Stef. For she believed that she and Mike had come a long way in their relationship but apparently not enough to be let in on the big secret. Which was that Ty was the one that had nearly killed Mariana and Jesus.

Although to be fair to Mike, Stef had a reason to be upset with pretty much the world at the moment.

Lena’s boss Monte had come over to their house one morning. And Monte had wanted to discuss how they were all going to be moving forward now that Stef knows she made a move on Lena. Also that Lena might have reciprocated a bit. If not more.

And so it was good of Monte to offer up her resignation. After all she was wise enough to realize how difficult it would be if she were to stay as acting principle at the same school that Lena worked at and where Stef and Lena’s Children attended. But luckily for her, neither Stef nor Lena wanted to be the ones that would have basically chased Monte away from her dream job.

So the ladies had later told Monte that they would all just try to work past the awkwardness. Yet when it wasn’t Monte coming between Stef and Lena, it was Stef pushing Lena away.

Stef had a mammogram and, as it turns out, a second opinion was needed after there appeared to be some confusion about whether or not Stef was actually ok. And so Stef had gone ahead with a second mammogram. However, her insurance was refusing to pay for it.

They didn’t seem to believe that she needed a second opinion. And Stef just couldn’t be bothered to fight with them about it. So she wasn’t simply going to drop everything and forget about it. But her mom had found out about the second opinion and she had gotten Stef’s medical files sent to a third doctor.

The older woman hadn’t wanted to overlook what could actually be a problem. So she had gone behind her daughter’s back in Stef’s best interest. And speaking of what was good for Stef, Sharon had also tried to prolong introducing her daughter to her new boyfriend.

The boyfriend’s name is Will and he’s kind of anti-establishment. He lives in his mobile home and goes wherever the wind blows. But the one thing that surely puts Mr. Easy Breezy on edge are the cops. The very same cops that he believes are nothing more than tyrants with guns.

Therefore, when the two finally did meet, the kids knew right away that they had to diffuse the tension before it erupted.

Sharon had asked them all out to dinner and, while they were there, Stef and Lena had told Brandon to not worry about Julliard. They said they would find a way if they had to and that they just wanted him to remain focus on his auditions. And he said he’ll try to but he also got a job in the meanwhile.

So Brandon is trying to help in his own way. And he’s been doing his best not to let Callie’s close relationship with AJ upset him. Though it doesn’t look like he has to worry about that what with AJ deciding to leave town with his brother.

Ty had gotten word that the police were asking about him so he knew it was time for him to leave town. But he had asked AJ to join him. And AJ eventually agreed after he realized what Ty had done.

And so despite the perfect image, there was a lot this family needed help with. AJ had runaway, Jesus had quite boarding school after he had been pressured into taking drugs, and Jude was going through his first ever heartbreak.

Connor had moved away once he realized his father wasn’t going to be able to change. Or accept him as he was. So Jude found himself suddenly without anyone and the one person he was able to talk – later dropped him. Callie had ended up informing on a Foster Kid who had some complaints about privatizing Foster Care. And though she didn’t realize that she had place from one bad situation to the next – Daniel no longer wanted to have anything to do with either her or her brother.

So the family image is coming apart. And Stef is finally getting serious about her health now that her doctor has informed her about her cancer.

THE END!
