Tonight on CBS The Good Wife starring Julianna Margulies continues with an all new Sunday May 8 season 7 finale called, “End” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, the series reaches its dramatic conclusion.

Tonight’s episode of The Good Wife kicks off with Alicia, Peter, Eli, and Lucca all in a car – and rambling on their cell phones. They are headed to the court house. Alicia rushes to meet with ASA Fox and try to still get Peter the two year plea deal. Fox laughs and says the verdict already came in – he will only offer a four year plea deal now. Alicia negotiates Fox down to two years, but Peter has to surrender within an hour.
Alicia heads back to the lobby and Peter is talking to Grace – she’s a mess. Grace obviously doesn’t want her father to go to prison, she cries and says that she will stay home with Alicia, she won’t go to college. Peter tells her that’s absurd – she’s going to college. He shares an emotional goodbye with Eli, then heads in court and accepts the plea deal for bribery and wire fraud.
In the midst of entering the plea deal – the judge gets a letter from the jury. They actually have not entered a plea deal. The jury has a question. Diane changes her mind and says that Peter is rejecting the plea deal. The jury’s question is they want to hear the 911 call. They bring the jury back in and play the 911 call from the murder case that Peter is accused of accepting a bribe to have thrown out.
Lucca rushes outside and gets Jason to help. Jason comes in to the court room and listens to the 911 call. There is a strange noise during the 911 call while the woman that was murdered was calling for help. Now, the jury wants to know what that strange noise was. The judge agrees to give them 24 hours to work on their cases and then he wants arguments on the strange noise. Jason works his magic and figures out that the strange noise on the 911 call was someone else’s cell phone ringing.
Lucca takes Alicia aside and tells her that she needs to thank Jason for his help. She confesses that she has been talking to Jason about his relationship with Alicia and tells her that she shouldn’t kick a man when he is down. Alicia needs to figure out which man she wants to come home to. Alicia heads home to work on the case, she falls asleep drinking wine and dreams about coming home to Jason. Then her dream changes to coming home to Will instead.
Alicia heads back to the office in the middle of the night to dig up old case files to help with their arguments. She heads upstairs to her old office and pulls up a file from 2010. Elizabeth has another flashback of Will – he was working with her on the case that is similar to Peter’s. Alicia talks to imaginary Will and tells him that he “wouldn’t like it at the firm now because things are really sad.”
In court the next day Diane has brought in a legal expert to discuss a precedent case, US vs. Nunez. Meanwhile, Peter skips out of court and meets with one of his campaign donors, a man named Dwight. Peter tells Dwight that this isn’t over, and he still plans on pursuing politics. Dwight says he knows, he talked to Eli, they are going to put all their money in to Alicia now and have her run for office.
Alicia meets up with Jason and thanks him for his help on the 911 call. He says that he understands, he thinks Alicia needs to be needed, and right now Peter needs her more. Alicia pleads with Jason to just wait for her until this is all over.
In court, Alicia is floored when she sees Grace sitting there – she was supposed to be on her way to Berkely. Alicia drags Grace out of court and learns that her daughter called the college and delayed for a year.
Meanwhile, Jason has found the person that the cell phone belonged to. Diane brings her on the witness stand – she testifies that her phone was the one that was ringing on the 911 call, but the woman claims that she left right before the shooter arrived. It’s starting to look like Locke might not have even been guilty after all. The judge interrupts and tells Diane enough is enough, this isn’t a murder trial, they are proving whether or not Peter is corrupt. However, Cary is freaking out. He worked the case with Peter, and he is starting to panic and think they got it all wrong.
Alicia sits down with ASA Fox after court to discuss a new plea deal for Peter. Now, she wants one year probation, no jail time, but Fox isn’t buying it. Outside, Peter takes Eli aside and he is not happy. He confronts him about moving all of their support behind Alicia. Eli scoffs that even if he doesn’t go to jail, he is tainted, and Alicia will divorce him. Eli apologizes, but tells Peter that it is the smart move.
There is a major break in the case – they found the bullets that Peter is being accused of hiding years ago in the evidence room, they were put in the wrong box. But, there is a problem. The bullets came from Locke’s gun, which means that he is most likely guilty, and Peter had reason to hide them in the wrong box.
It gets even worse – Fox has brought in Diane’s husband to testify that the bullets came from Locke’s gun. When Alicia realizes that Diane’s husband is going to testify – she freaks out on Diane. She shouts out her that Peter is her client and if she isn’t going to cross-examine her husband and refute his testimony then she will fire her.
They head back to court, and Alicia has Lucca cross-examine Diane’s husband, since now he is saying that the bullets came from Locke’s gun. Lucca doesn’t hold back – she starts accusing Diane’s husband of having an affair with his ballistics protégé, Diane is nearly in tears and she storms out of the court room.
Lucca’s hard core questioning seemed to work, the judge has decided to throw out the ballistics evidence and not present it to the jury. Alicia meets with Fox again, he offers Peter one year probation and no jail time, however he has to resign from Governor. Alicia convinces Peter to take the deal. He agrees, as long as Alicia promises to stand by his side.
Alicia has another talk with imaginary Will. He tells her to go to Jason, her and Peter are clearly over. Alicia scoffs that Jason is no Will. But, he convinces her to go to him so that she isn’t alone forever. Alicia says goodbye to imaginary Will and tells him that she will love him forever.
Alicia heads to the office to try and find Jason, but he is gone. She calls his phone and leaves him a voicemail and tells him that she needs to talk to him ASAP.
The next day, Alicia takes Peter’s hand and heads to a press conference with him. Peter announces that he is resigning from Governor, he says that he has been cleared of all but one corruption charge, but doesn’t want to be a burden to the people of Illinois any longer. While Peter is thanking his legal team and his wife Alicia – Alicia runs out of the press conference because she spotted Jason in the background.
She chases after him – but it is all in her head. Alicia heads back to the press conference and passes Diane in the hallway, she smacks her across the face…hard. Alicia regains her composure and wipes away her tear.
