'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Adam Newman is Alive - Calling Himself By Another Name

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that the mystery of Adam’s (Justin Hartley) apparent death has been solved. And it was so easy. The cheeky answer to this mystery has been hiding in plain sight since September 20, 2016.

The love of your life didn’t die in the cabin explosion Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and he’s not living on the outskirts of Genoa City with an old woman and her snarky assistant either. He hasn’t had reconstructive surgery and also isn’t calling himself Gabe.

It’s not clear yet how Adam escaped death, but he apparently has some form of amnesia and is calling himself Kevin Pearson. He thinks he has a twin sister who’s name is Kate (Chrissy Metz), which was an interesting pairing Dan Fogelman made. Both characters often reflect on their childhoods.

All Y&R fans can peak at Adam’s new life through a lens that’s called This Is Us, which isn’t on CBS in the daytime hours. No, that alternate reality show premiered on NBC during the Tuesday night in September that was referenced above.

Tagging something as ‘fake news’ is rapidly becoming an ideological choice. One person’s truth is another person’s lie and vice versa. Of course, those who have appointed themselves to be the thought police loudly disagree and likely need to be restrained.

Adam’s latest transformation isn’t a straight story. It was concocted for reader’s entertainment and to expose those who take the genre far too seriously, or pretend to do so in order to gain momentary attention.

The internet gave birth to many children. One of them was named Social Media and that kid believes in omnipotence. This calculating soul often claims selective outrage, when in fact he (or she) is simply putting on a show for strangers who’ll he’ll (she’ll) never meet and doesn’t actually want to know.

Soap operas face twenty-first century critics who believe that watching a show means they also have knowledge of how daytime dramas are produced and directed, how and why actors are cast, how those actors should ply their craft, how talented (yes, talented) writers painstakingly create complex plots that generally play out five days a week year-round. But all know-it-alls are only experts on themselves. And this assessment of their behavior is logically undeniable.

Here’s what appears to be the truth about Victor Adam Newman, Jr.: Michael Muhney was outstanding in that role but, but he’s admitted to being too headstrong and that was probably the leading reason why he was fired by former executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. Muhney was in talks with Y&R about returning to the show in 2014, but lost out to Justin Hartley. Hartley is also a terrific actor who did a great job in that smart recast.

All who attacked Phelps about Adam related decisions made in 2013 and 2014 came to learn the real story as time passed. And if Hunter King was wronged by Muhney in the workplace, Y&R would have never considered his rehire. It appears as though Muhney was and is still eligible to return to the show. It would seem wise for Mal Young and Sally Sussman to carefully consider rehiring this great actor at some point in the future and for Muhney to then make sure he maintains his cool if that happens.

Yes, Hartley isn’t returning to Y&R to play Adam because he’s become Kevin on NBC’s hit prime time show. All balanced minds who understand that entertainment is to be enjoyed, not attacked, got the gist of this story from the jump and aren’t bent out of shape because they knew it was offered in jest. A sense of humor always helps life to flow more smoothly.
