The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Dylan Role Recast - Steve Burton's Stunning Y&R Exit Plays Into Christian Reveal

The Young and the Restless spoilers report that Steve Burton (Dylan) announced he’s leaving the show when his current contract expires in December. Of course his character’s connection to the Christian reveal will obviously now steam roll into that extended plot. So, how will Dylan’s departure from Genoa City play into the baby scheme story?

Burton departed his famed role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital in 2012. He then debuted as Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless on January 29, 2013. Through various reveals he became Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott’s) and Paul’s (Doug Davidson) biological son.

Dylan worked through a reunion and eventual farewell with his true love, Avery (Jessica Collins). They were known as Davery. He was involved with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who initially convinced him that Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) was his child. They were called Chylan. Then, he was paired with Sharon (Sharon Case) who he married. They are referred to as Shylan.

Sharon was conned into believing that she was pregnant with Dylan’s child by Dr. Sandra Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush). This bizarre arc invented a number of character’s back stories, as Sandy’s scheme was portrayed as revenge against Nick (Joshua Morrow) for an incident that occurred approximately two decades earlier.

Sandy was said to have accepted Nick’s dare to take a risky jump off a second story at the Newman Ranch into the pool below. She broke her neck as a result. No one knew, but Sharon secretly witnessed the entire incident. Victor (Eric Braeden) paid for Sandy’s recovery, but Nick’s lack of contact after the incident enraged Sandy.

After returning to town in present day, Sandy then engineered the kidnapping of Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick’s newborn son Christian, who was said to have died shortly after his birth. He was taken from Genoa City Memorial Hospital and given to Sharon, who agreed to name him Sully in honor of Dylan’s fallen military buddy.

Sharon later realized that Sully wasn’t their child, believed that she confirmed he was actually Christian through Nick’s unauthorized DNA sample and has never told her husband the truth.

Patty Williams’ (Stacy Haiduk) recent return has ignited Christian reveal hopes among devoted fans. She threatened to expose this baby secret unless Sharon helps her to escape the Stoneville mental health facility. This developing scenario seems likely to combine with Burton’s approaching exit.
