Aaron Rodgers reportedly dumped his longtime girlfriend Olivia Munn because of his family and her controlling nature according to new reports. Despite rumors that the couple – who had been together for three years – were thinking of getting engaged, other sources close to Aaron had denied them, stating that Aaron’s family hated Olivia and thought she was ‘controlling’.
A source told Us Weekly, “The big issue is that Olivia doesn’t get along with his family. They think she’s controlling.” The source also added that the issue drew public attention last summer, when Aaron’s younger brother Jordan Rodgers appeared on the Bachelorette. Unfortunately, the private details of the family estrangement became public, which immediately led to the media capitalizing on the drama and digging deeper – which might have inadvertently led to the situation becoming worse.
The source also adds, “Aaron is the one that has pulled away from the family, not the reverse. When he got together with Olivia Munn, his family told him they didn’t trust her and thought she wasn’t with him for the right reasons. That made him furious, and he ended up choosing Olivia over his family.”
Unfortunately, it seems like the constant push and pull between Olivia and his family destroyed Aaron’s relationship with Olivia, and the demise came sooner rather than later. When push came to shove – and questions of an engagement and marriage were being thrown around – Aaron might have realized that he would rather keep his family than marry Olivia, and broke it off with her before things got more serious.
The initial reports claimed that the duo parted ways ‘amicably’, but we know what amicably means by now, right? Besides, it’s likely that the initial announcement came from Olivia’s team, who wouldn’t want the fact that she got dumped to be made public – nor the reasons that she was dumped.
Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn both tried hard to make their relationship work, and some of that involved covering up the details of the family drama – which they might have succeeded at, had it not been for Jordan Rodger’s Bachelorette stint. Unfortunately, now it’s too late – and the Aaron Rodgers/Olivia Munn relationship died as a result.
