General Hospital Spoilers: Kirsten Storms Thanks Brandon Barash For Telling Her To Seek Help For Mental Illness

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Kirsten Storms, who portrays Maxie Jones on the ABC soap opera, had recently taken leave from GH, upon the advice of her ex-husband, Brandon Barash (Johnny Zacchara, GH).

Fans of Kirsten Storms know she has endured a lot with not only suffering from endometriosis which kept her off the show in 2011, and being replaced by Jen Lilly (Theresa, Days of Out Lives) for nearly a year. In May 2016, she left again explaining that she had a skin condition that was mostly induced because of stress; of course at that time she was in the midst of a divorce from Brandon Barash and co-parenting their toddler daughter, Harper Rose.

General Hospital star Kirsten Storms was only gone for a few months and fans were thrilled to see Maxie Jones back, especially when she married her PCPD detective sweetheart, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) but the return was short lived when she left citing stress.

Recently, Kirsten Storms explained her leave, admitting ex-husband, Brandon Barash saw her suffering and changing before his eyes; he took the initiative and spoke to General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini about Kirsten’s condition and that she needed help. It truly is quite amazing how close these ex spouses are and an inspiration to many.

Together, they came to an agreement to give Kirsten 4 months off – She took three months to get herself healthy and a month to settle back into her regular life. Kirsten explains a lot of that was figuring out the right medication for her depression and is thankful at how it has changed her life.
