General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Julian (William deVry) is headed to prison, but there’s no need to worry. He won’t be stuck there for 20 years. Scott (Kin Shriner) will work some legal magic and secure Julian’s release down the road. In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, William deVry offered some hints about what’s to come for his popular character.
First, let’s talk about when Julian will be back. For many General Hospital viewers, this return can’t come soon enough! However, it appears the show is trying to be strategic about the timing. Julian should pop up during November sweeps, so it’ll be fun to see how he shakes things up in Port Charles.
DeVry noted that Frank Valentini, GH’s executive producer, wanted Julian’s return to have a real impact. ABC exec Nathan Varni agreed that although they could’ve brought Julian back a bit sooner, waiting was the best option. DeVry suggested that the delay would be worth it to fans hoping for a big bang.
“I want everybody to be happy with this and not feel rushed,” deVry said. That’s especially true since deVry’s exit scenes were taped so quickly. Julian is sure to have a rough life behind bars. He’ll undoubtedly pine for Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and battle regrets. Julian will have plenty of time to think about what he could’ve done differently.
Once Julian is notified of his release, perhaps he can even begin planning his future. Can he start fresh with Alexis at some point? It seems likely, but Julian could have some competition. General Hospital spoilers state that Alexis will give dating a whirl while Julian’s away. He may have to fight for what he wants.
Of course, no one will create the same spark Alexis feels with her former flame. Julian has left a permanent mark on Alexis’ heart. They obviously care about each other, but they’ll have to get on the same page when he gets back. It’ll take some work to recapture what they’ve lost.
Can Julian get his act together and make this reunion happen? How will his guilt and months of reflection affect him? “I’m certainly curious to see what the writers have in store for Julian’s frame of mind when he comes back, absolutely,” deVry said.
