Tonight’s episode begins with Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Wiel) running through the rain and thanking Dr. Isaac Roa (Jimmy Smits) for seeing her. She begins to cry, saying she lied to him because she didn’t come here to get better, she came there to hurt her.

In 2002, Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) is walking in her client, the councilman who is facing rape charges. They are forced to stay back as the victim, Bonnie is being escorted in by the prosecution. Bonnie and Annalise stare down each other as Bonnie and her legal team walks into the building.

Oliver Hampton (Conrad Ricamora) is getting dressed as Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee) is shocked to learn Annalise is staying in such a shady hotel; Oliver tells Connor he’d rather live in a 2-star hotel than the mess they are currently living int. Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry) and Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King) barge in wondering why they are so late. Oliver snidely tells Connor he would rather he have a job than sitting on the couch trying to figure out of their neighbor is gay or not.

Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) and Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza) are in the middle of having sex when Bonnie messages her. Laurel tells him, Bonnie needs her, and he says to just have her come home and meet her there. She smiles when he says he is just her gigolo and tells him she will text him later.

Annalise begins to visit all of Virginia Cross’ clients, revealing Ms. Cross may have muddled their cases and offers them the petition to sign. She has 24 signatures and only needs 16 more. Bonnie sits in the office reviewing the files as she flashes back to the trial of when the councilman raped her, she reveals she got pregnant and didn’t know who the father was as she is raped by several men at the time, including her father; most of the men were in jail already. She has no idea what happened to the baby, she passed during labor and when she came to, her father told her the baby was dead.

Back in her session with Dr. Roa, he reminds her that it is his duty to report if she is a danger to herself or others; she retracts her words. Bonnie says maybe she made it all up, thinking they were so similar but she wanted to be her, and the other woman wanted a child. Bonnie says their relationship was about her guilt. We are back at the courthouse, where Annalise is pressured to “tear” into Bonnie in order to impress her bosses at the law firm. She tells him she will cut off his penis if her name is not on the door by next month.

Annalise is reviewing the paperwork of the trial when Sam (Tom Verica) comes in to do her hormone injections as she struggles. Sam assures her she can do this case but at what cost to her? She begins to cry saying not every case is about what he did to me and the tears are about the hormones.

Bonnie tells Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) that she was right about Annalise. Nate says he will go to the prison to check it out, but she needs to think about what this is really about.

Tegan Price (Amirah Vann) calls Michaela into her office to give her a reward. Tegan says she is doing really good work and soon she will be able to buy a closet full of these herself. Michaela walks proudly with her shoes and calls Oliver over, first calling him a trader for talking to Simon Drake (Behzad Dabu); she reminds him they are doing this for Wes (Alfred Enoch), Laurel and the baby, and informs him of when Tegan is leaving.

Nate catches Annalise at the prison, warning her that Bonnie already knows what she is up to. Nate has someone for her case but won’t give her the name unless she goes about this the right way. Nate returns to the office and informs Bonnie that Annalise is not on the visitor logs. Laurel arrives and is asked to enter more of Virginia’s clients on the spreadsheet, she struggles with the box but when Bonnie offers to help, she says other pregnant woman do far worse and carries if off to her desk.

The cross-examination begins, as Annalise questions Bonnie about false memories and the possibility that she was lying. Bonnie was only 14 at the time and was threatened by her own father if she told anyone. Outside the courtroom, Annalise is told not to take this, she is to go back into the courtroom and go for blood or she won’t have a job!

Dr. Roa asks “Julie” aka Bonnie about “May” and her connection to her. He insists she came to therapy to get over May, not hurt her. Bonnie says it’s not helpful for him to force her to remember the good times since the relationship was abusive. She was so desperate to be with someone who wouldn’t rape her that she clung to her, but that isn’t loved. She cries that she cannot take anyone else being on her side.

In court, back in 2002, Annalise says she is ready to question Bonnie. Annalise asks if it is possible that Bonnie had a hysterical pregnancy, meaning it might not have even happened. She reminds her this is a court of law, and they need proof, but Bonnie only has memories and it is okay to admit that she is confusing the councilman with one of the dozens of men who raped her in that room. Annalise says her recovery of the man’s face, 10 years later could be false. Once again, she asks if there is any doubt that he did terrible things to her.

Bonnie goes to review the visitor log herself and doesn’t see Annalise’s name, leaving disappointed. Claudia (Yolonda Ross) comes into the room where Annalise is sitting; she tells her that Jazi overdosed and has died. Claudia comes back in the room, even though she has a bad history with Annalise. Annalise says the system is broken, but she can change that by signing her lawsuit to give them proper representation. Claudia says they still hate her, but after Annalise says she wants to try to fix things for her boys, she thinks about it.

Connor calls himself the greatest housewife ever, as he cleaned up the entire apartment and made dinner; he then gets a text from Oliver saying he is going to be home late and to eat alone. Connor grabs a drink and sinks into the couch as Michaela reminds Oliver the lies are for Connor’s protection. Laurel can’t get a hold of Michaela, so she sends Frank a message for sex; Asher notices him blushing and wants to know who it is from. Frank makes Asher wonder if Michaela is cheating on him, as Frank stresses that he isn’t doing good enough for his tests. Connor talks on “humper” and is asked to hook up.

Michaela and Oliver get into some restricted files, she takes a photo before it closes out and Oliver covers by taking Simon out for some drinks.

Dr. Roa tells “Julie” that her bond with May is so strong, and that is why she is suffering the same pain she caused May. He calls it love and until she admits that she will not be able to move beyond the pain and suffering in her life.

Sam returns home from work to see Annalise drinking in the dark. She tells him, she won the case. He begins to rant at her for drinking during the $20,000 injections; she informs him that she quit. He takes a swig of the bottle, saying it’s reason to celebrate but she is upset that she was a coward and destroyed Bonnie.

In the present day, there is a knock at Annalise’s door, it’s a very drunk Connor and she wants to know what he is doing there. He tells her he dropped out of law school because of her picking him to be in Keating 5. He says he only left his apartment to have sex, Annalise says at least he didn’t go to him though. Connor’s guilt is destroying him for all the bad things they did, like Sam’s bloody head and Wes’ body in the basement. He just wants to die as Annalise says he is stronger than that because he came to her instead of doing anything.

Laurel demands that Michaela go back in because the pop-up is blocking the whole document, but Michaela says no because Tegan is everything Annalise isn’t. Asher pretends to be sleeping, overhearing what they said.

Frank comes to Michaela’s place to tell her no more sex. She says a text would have been fine, but Frank wants to know if the baby is his; there is a flashback to a night they have together. She says it’s not, she says that night was the biggest mistake of her life and she never wants to hear those words out of his mouth again and kicks him out.

Dr. Roa wants to hear Julie say she loves May, as that is the first step to healing. Bonnie doesn’t know if she will mean it, but he encourages her to say it to see how it feels. She stumbles through the words and begins to cry. Bonnie repeats “I love her” over and over.

Annalise comes to see Bonnie, informs her that she quit her job. She isn’t there to apologize, rather she just began teaching in a law school and she believes Bonnie could be one. She offers to help her do it.

Annalise has a collect call from Claudia, revealing about 15 of them are in, and if she messes up a bunch of them will be after her; Annalise celebrates that she has over 40 clients. Suddenly, Annalise starts getting calls from the prison of people canceling the petition because Bonnie watched the videos and threatened them will jeopardizing their parole among other things.

After everything Bonnie has done, she runs through the rain and meets Annalise in a parking garage. Annalise swears she was trying to do something good and it had nothing to do with the two of them. Bonnie says everything she does is for herself. Annalise says she helped Bonnie because she “saw” her, that they were the same. Bonnie says they are not the same, she tried to make her into her.

Bonnie is angry that Annalise threw her out like another intern like she was nothing. Annalise tells Bonnie she doesn’t need her, and maybe she never did. Annalise begins to cry, saying she never thought she was nothing nor trash. She walks away telling Bonnie to look at what she has done.

Bonnie runs in the rain again, as memories of her and Annalise race through her mind. She continues to say, “I love her” to Dr. Roa. She admits that it hurts to say it because she misses her and misses the house. She misses their family; Annalise made her feel safe.

Annalise says the case is going to be harder now that Connor knows what she is doing but she needs his help. Laurel reveals to Michaela and Oliver what the date is on the letter and the death of the man who was going to testify. Asher calls Michaela, sitting in his car outside of Laurel’s place, she blatantly lies to him about where she is.

Bonnie tells Dr. Roa that she wants to believe that Annalise really wants to change and that was what the class action suit was all about. Roa suddenly realizes Bonnie is talking about Annalise. He orders Bonnie to stop talking, saying “May” is Annalise Keating. Bonnie denies it, but he orders her to stop lying. He looks at her and realizes she is Bonnie, the one Annalise fired.

2 Weeks later, Bonnie is at the crime scene at Caplan and Gold as a suspect, Asher sits in jail.

THE END!
