Kate Middleton is looking to take on Prince Philip’s workload. In fact, the Duchess of Cambridge is hoping to emulate Philip’s royal role now that he is retiring.
According to Britain’s Express, Kate has long admired the Duke of Edinburgh and how he’s always supported Queen Elizabeth by being by her side for 65 long years. And that’s exactly what she wants to do as she prepared to become Prince William’s consort.
In fact, one source close to the situation told the site, “Their Royal Highnesses are keen to continue to increase their official work on behalf of The Queen and for the charities and causes they support, which will require greater time spent in London. The Duke of Edinburgh’s decision has been taken over recent months with the thinking having began in earnest at the turn of the year. With Prince George starting school in September and the Cambridges moving back to London, the timing feels right.”
So does this mean that Kate Middleton is taking her royal obligations more seriously? That’s what royal fans want to know. After all, Kate Middleton has been taking on more solo work in the last few weeks.
Of course, a lot of royal observers are surprised that Kate Middleton is taking an initiative here. After all, she and Prince William have long been called the laziest couple in British royal history. It wasn’t until recently that both she and William started stepping it up in their workload.
For years, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would only do a few royal engagements every couple of weeks so they could either stay behind closed doors at Amner Hall or go on vacation. But, things have changed. Queen Elizabeth is putting more pressure on everyone to do more than just their fair share of work for the future of the monarchy.
Then again, Kate Middleton probably feels like she has no other choice but to do more royal engagements and public appearances. With Prince Philip stepping down and Queen Elizabeth doing less work herself, everyone is relying on her, Prince William and Prince Harry to act more royal and stately in the coming weeks.
Plus, this is another move that says there are going to be a lot of changes behind closed doors at Buckingham Palace. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any additional comments about Prince Philip’s retirement or Kate Middleton’s eagerness to take on his workload.
