Can Prince Harry’s plans to marry Meghan Markle survive the latest scandal to make the news? Will Queen Elizabeth change her standards sufficiently to allow Meghan, a Hollywood actress, into the Royal Family? Meghan Markle has been acting for a long time – a lot longer than she’s been Prince Harry’s girlfriend. But for the duration her relationship with the Prince, Meghan’s career hasn’t really been an obstacle – that is, until now.
It looks like Meghan’s acting past has dredged up some… let’s just say, ‘uncomfortable’ TV footage that might make Prince Harry think twice before he proposes marriage. And if Harry doesn’t balk there is no question Queen Elizabeth will!
Footage from Meghan Markle’s old role in 90210 (from 2008) recently went viral – Star Mag has it, implying Meghan’s character is performing some heavy-duty action in a car parked in a high school parking lot. Obviously, performing is very different from actually doing, which is why this isn’t a bigger scandal.
Of course, there have reportedly already been several concerns expressed about Meghan’s acting career and Meghan’s past by sources in the royal family, and we know how traditional Queen Elizabeth is. The mere fact that the royals have okay’d Harry’s relationship with Meghan proves how much they all adore him, but there’s only so long they’re going to turn a blind eye if the relationship causes their image any issues.
With all that being said, Prince Harry also has also had his fair share of scandals in the past, most notably the nude Vegas scandal. You can complain all you want about Meghan Markle acting out scene almost a decade ago, but she was doing her job. Could you say the same about Harry’s Vegas fiasco?
Obviously, there are different standards – however unfair – for Prince Harry and his wife-to-be. He is a royal, and while he’s held to higher standards, he’s also given a lot more leeway if he screws up. Take Meghan Markle, not so much. For example, if Meghan told the royals that she had just booked a major acting role in a big movie that required her to do a raunchy love scene, how do you think they’re going to react? This, at least, is from 2008 – but in the future? It is VERY unlikely that Meghan Markle is going to have much freedom in choosing her acting roles – if she continues her career at all after marriage.
