Prince William and Kate Middleton are packing their bags and making their big move to London. It was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be leaving their country home in Norfolk for Kensington Palace. Many royal observers can’t help but wonder if these means William and Kate will be taking on a bigger role as Queen Elizabeth prepares to give the throne to her son, Prince Charles – soon to be King Charles
According to reports, the move will force William and Kate out of hiding as they will be expected to do more while in London. Their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will also be attending new schools in London.
In fact, many believe that the monarchy is preparing for a royal shift from Queen Elizabeth to King Charles. Queen Elizabeth has long been the hardest working member of the royal family. But now that Queen Elizabeth is looking to retire, she is putting pressure on everyone to do more.
Even though reports say that Kate Middleton wants to just focus on being a mother, that’s not going to happen. With Prince Charles in charge, she won’t be able to use Prince George and Princess Charlotte as an excuse to stay home or worse, cancel any of her public appearances like she’s done in the past.
Many have also noticed that William and Kate’s holiday plans have been cancelled thanks to Queen Elizabeth. She supposedly canceled their annual trip to the island of Mustique with the Middletons earlier this month. Instead of relaxing in the surf and sand, William and Kate appeared at their first royal engagement of the year at the Child Bereavement Headquarters in London.
The Queen is sending a clear message that she expects them to work more and vacation less, whether they like it or not. And by moving them to London, both the Queen and Prince Charles can keep a better eye on them.
