It’s a new year and apparently a new set of rules for Prince William and Kate Middleton. There is a new report indicating that Queen Elizabeth canceled William and Kate’s annual trip to Mustique. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were looking forward to visiting the luxurious Caribbean island with Kate’s family this year until Queen Elizabeth canceled their plans.
Instead, Prince William and Kate Middleton are starting off the New Year with work – and lots of it. Last year William and Kate didn’t make their first post-holiday public appearance until February 7. This year they were forced back to work on January 11. The Duke and Duchess spent the day talking to young children at the Child Bereavement Headquarters in London.
And while many royal observers are surprised to see William and Kate getting back to work so early in the year, insiders say this is the new norm. After all, Kate Middleton only worked 63 days last year. Prince William put in 80 days.
Queen Elizabeth knows that in order for them to stop embarrassing the royal family with their work-allergic attitude, they have to do more. With Queen Elizabeth’s health concerns and uncertain future, she’s giving them more royal engagements and public appearances whether they like it or not.
Royal insiders believe that Kate Middleton is absolutely gutted that her Mustique plans have been canceled. After all, she was looking forward to starting off the New Year with her parents Michael and Carole Middleton along with her siblings Pippa Middleton and James Middleton. But at this point, even Kate knows she doesn’t have a choice.
There are going to be some major changes made in the monarchy this year. No one knows how much longer Queen Elizabeth will rule or whether or not Prince Charles will be made King of England this year. But one thing is for certain: both Prince William and Kate Middleton are being pressured to do more and vacation less. That means more charity work and fewer vacations with the Middletons in Mustique.
