Queen Elizabeth blames Prince Charles and his awful behavior with Princess Diana for much of the current bad PR Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting over marriage trouble. The apple does not fall far from the tree, especially when in this metaphor, the apple is Prince William and the tree is Prince Charles.
Prince William and Kate Middleton may have coasted on positive public sentiment for the first few years of their marriage, but the cracks in their marriage – and their public image – are starting to catch up to them. In addition to massive public resentment over their work-shy ways and their constant avoidance of official royal commitments, their facade of a happy marriage has been falling apart recently.
Much like Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Prince William and Kate Middleton are now facing the possibility of their relationship deteriorating in the public eye – but unlike Prince Charles and Princess Diana, it has yet to progress to the point of no return. The question is – will Prince William learn from his father’s mistakes, or repeat them?
There have been reports recently that Queen Elizabeth actually blames Prince Charles for what’s now happening in Kate Middleton’s and Prince William’s marriage, because Prince Charles obviously set a horrendous example of what a marriage should look like – ESPECIALLY in the royal family.
Queen Elizabeth has every right to be infuriated because she herself has worked long and hard at cultivating her own image – including her marriage – despite reports of Prince Philip’s philandering and other… uh, proclivities. But her son? Well, let’s just say, he didn’t quite inherit his mother’s commitment to the royal lineage in quite the same way. And it seems her grandson is headed down the same path, after picking up a thing or two from his dear old father.
However, Prince William still has time to recover from his faltering marriage AND his faltering public image. Prince Charles and Princess Diana were doomed from the day they married (especially according to the latest biography about Prince Charles), but Prince William and Kate Middleton have both a stronger bond and a stronger history together – but for that to sustain itself, Prince William will have to refrain from going on vacations with ex-girlfriends and ditching work and family commitments to go party with models in other countries.
It’s not only unbecoming and indicative of a mid-life crisis, but could lead to him going down Prince Charles’ path – and really, who wants that? Certainly not Queen Elizabeth, and probably not the overworked press people at the palace either. What do you guys think?
