Things were different on this latest season of ‘Return to Amish’ because Mary for once no longer cared about what the Amish community thought about her.

They had apparently shunned her and she was fine with that because she knew she could handle it. But things had changed after Mary’s father died. The older man had been Amish so he was buried in the Amish fashion and unfortunately Mary was not allowed to attend. She had been told that the funeral wouldn’t go ahead if she were to come and so she had stayed away in order not to cause a disturbance however that had affected Mary. She had believed that the Amish community was in the wrong for what they did. So she stopped caring about what they said or thought and decided to live her life for herself.

However, that meant going out more into the English community because she knew she would be more accepted out there. So Mary had more or less thrown the whole rule book out the window and she had gotten a job. She was now selling rubberwear and it made her happy. She got to cook which is something she always loved to do and she got to throw parties at other people’s homes which allowed her to use their technology. Like their stoves, microwaves, and even the cooking utensils that she hadn’t really known about. And so Mary was enjoying herself despite what the Amish thought yet a part of her hadn’t fully given up on the life.

Mary was still dressing in the Amish fashion and she didn’t want to give on her marriage to Chester because she still loved him. Yet, things were different with more than just Mary’s new lifestyle because there were also the kids. The kids were adults now though they still got in trouble every now and then. So Mary did her best to check in on them. She was always on hand to help out with her grandchildren and she was one of the few people that remained in contact with Sabrina. Sabrina had sadly lost custody of her daughter again and Mary seemed to be the only one that cared to be sympathetic because the others had been harsh on Sabrina.

Jeremiah and Rebecca in particular had wanted to distance themselves from Sabrina. They said they had tried to help her out in the past and that nothing worked. So they had given up on her because they thought she was a lost cause, but Sabrina was trying her best. She had lost her daughter because she wasn’t allowed unsupervised visits with Oakley and Oakley’s father and she had broken those rules. Though the authorities had only found out about it after Sabrina and her ex had taken a friend to the hospital because he had needed emergency care. And so Oakley hadn’t been in danger and Sabrina hadn’t lost custody because she fell off the wagon.

So the real problem had been Sabrina’s inability to follow the rules and she regrets what she did now. She knew that she had been in the wrong and that she had a habit of making poor decisions. But she was back in counseling and she had told her Dr. Lucas that she was trying to do better. Sabrina was apparently pregnant again and so she wanted to do better with this child however she had shocked Jeremiah and Carmela by covering herself up again. She hadn’t done that since she was in the church and so Jeremiah had asked her if she was going back because he thought she had hated everything about being a Mennonite. And so Sabrina had to explain a few things.

Sabrina had told Jeremiah that she wasn’t going back to that church and that she simply wanted to be protected because she had grown up believing that a woman covered is someone that is protected by the angels. However, Sabrina did admit in therapy that she was thinking about joining a church just to experience that same support she had gotten from Abe and Rebecca. Abe and Rebecca hadn’t talked to Sabrina in a while and they hadn’t even felt sympathetic when they found out Sabrina had lost her daughter again because they thought that Sabrina must have deserved it. What with her addiction.

Yet, the two had also been in a huff when Mary said she was going to visit Sabrina. They thought that they had all tried to do their best by Sabrina and that nothing worked. So they didn’t understand why Mary would want to see Sabrina again though Jeremiah ultimately agreed to go drive his mother to Sabrina’s and Rebecca had hated that. She said that Mary didn’t understand how she made Abe feel like a horrible son and that dragging him away from his family was something Mary should have thought about. And so Rebecca didn’t want her husband going to see Sabrina even if it was without her.

Then again Rebecca also had a few problems with Abe. Abe didn’t want Rebecca getting her GED or going to college because he didn’t want her to get a job at the end of it all. He said that it was a man’s duty to provide for his family and so he didn’t want to Rebecca breaking out of that traditional mold, but Rebecca didn’t care about what he thought. She wanted an education and she was willing to work and fight it for it. Though a visit a from Jeremiah had caused some friction. Jeremiah and his wife had come over for dinner and naturally Jeremiah’s mouth had gotten him into trouble.

Jeremiah had made fun of Rebecca wanting to be a dentist seeing as she didn’t have any natural teeth and had convinced her husband Abe to pull his teeth as well. But like his wife said, he wasn’t there when Abe made his decision and so he shouldn’t presume that Rebecca had forced her husband into doing something he didn’t want to do. So Jeremiah had gotten into trouble for running his mouth and somehow he had blamed that too on Rebecca because he said that he used to be able to say whatever he wanted to however his wife Carmela was thankfully the voice of reason. She was the one that told him to back off and later she tried again to get through to him on the house.

The two were moving to Florida and they needed a house. However, Jeremiah had wanted a house that was completely out in the woods because he said he wanted privacy and didn’t want any neighbors seeing him walk around naked in the backyard. So Jeremiah liked the homes that needed more work on them and Carmela had tried to steer him on the right path. She mentioned that it would be too much and that they needed space for the kids to run around which was something they couldn’t do on such soft and mushy ground that Jeremiah was looking at. And so the two had later agreed on a compromise house.

The compromise house wasn’t in a secluded wooded area though it allowed Jeremiah to change it up and build on it. So the compromise house was perfect because they thought they could fix it up while they lived in a camper. Yet, the house had had a few problems they hadn’t known about and so the couple later realized that their dream home was a nightmare. They had apparently been notified that the house was built on risky grounds and that if they built on it then they were at risk of sinkholes. And everyone knows that sinkholes could not only destroy the house, but they were also dangerous because people have died from suddenly getting pulled into the ground.

Though unfortunately there was nothing the couple could do about it because they put in all of their savings just to get the house. So they were screwed and they knew it yet there was nothing they could do about it and it was causing an issue between Jeremiah and his new bride just as everything was working out.

THE END!
