The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) relationship could be moving toward its conclusion. Most newer soap couples fizzle eventually and that seems to be the plan for “Chick.” Here are five reasons why Chelsea and Nick’s romance is doomed.
1. Big secrets
For starters, let’s talk about Nick and Chelsea’s secrets. Nick is hiding the fact that Victor (Eric Braeden) worked with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), faked her death and helped her escape. Chelsea isn’t being honest either. She’s still keeping the truth about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity under wraps. Sooner or later, deception is sure to tear this couple apart.
2. Adam’s inevitable return
Everyone knows that any character can return from the dead on a soap. Even things like organ removal or onscreen stabbings aren’t real obstacles. Daytime dramas can find a way! However, it’s interesting that The Young and the Restless specifically left doubt about Adam’s demise. If Y&R viewers don’t see a body, it usually means they’re setting up a comeback in the future.
Since we’ve been seeing some clues about Adam’s potential return, it’s becoming even more likely. Once Adam’s back in the picture, Chelsea won’t stick with Nick. She has to reunite with her true love! It doesn’t matter which actor they choose for the Adam recast. No pairing can compare to “Chadam” for Chelsea.
3. Victor plays dirty
Y&R fans know that Victor tends to play dirty. Nick and Victor make peace in Tuesday’s episode, but how long can that realistically last? If Nick dares to cross Victor again, the war could reignite and be worse than ever. Victor would undoubtedly do everything in his power to destroy Nick’s romance, including exposing Christian’s paternity and Chelsea’s lies.
4. Boredom has set in
Let’s face it. Nick and Chelsea are pretty boring these days. What do they actually do? They make love and sit around talking about Victor. That’s literally it. Maybe it’s time for a split so they can explore other interests.
5. Sharon is headed for single life
The writing’s on the wall. Scott (Daniel Hall) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) are destined for a hookup or even a real relationship. Since Sharon (Sharon Case) will obviously find herself single down the road, it makes sense that Nick will comfort her. He’s been in Sharon’s orbit more and more lately. Their bond is growing stronger, so Y&R may want to reunite this supercouple.
