The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Adam Newman is alive and a huge character return is on the way. Jamey Giddens of Daytime Confidential just revealed some exciting news on his weekly podcast. According to Giddens, The Young and the Restless has decided to recast the role of Adam Newman and Mal Young is running the enterprise.
After Justin Hartley left the part, The Young and the Restless seemed reluctant to bring in another newbie. However, we all knew it was just a matter of time before the popular character returned. An Adam-less Y&R simply doesn’t have the same draw. As CDL has accurately demonstrated and explained on several occasions, over 90% of The Young and the Restless fans want Adam Newman back.
Hartley joined the cast of NBC’s hit show, This Is Us, which was renewed for two more seasons. He’s a big success now, so a daytime comeback is out of the question. Some Y&R fans have lobbied for Michael Muhney’s return, but there’s a lot of baggage attached to that name. Instead, the CBS soap is looking for a new face to portray the always complex Adam.
In fact, Giddens noted that The Young and the Restless is searching outside of the soap circle. They’re apparently hoping to score someone who hasn’t been involved in other daytime dramas. Many viewers have already been throwing around suggestions, but it’s anybody’s guess who will snag the part.
Once they find the perfect fit, what happens next? The Young and the Restless will undoubtedly deliver a fantastic story about Adam’s return from the “dead.” This could help undo some of the damage to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) as well as Victor (Eric Braeden).
Adam’s return would also put an end to Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) relationship. “Chadam” fans have been clamoring for their pairing, so Y&R will likely deliver what the people want. Of course, all of this means the truth about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity will inevitably come out.
In other words, Adam Newman’s comeback will surely create heaps of drama for The Young and the Restless. We’ll bring you more news and updates on Adam Newman’s recasting and new storylines shortly.
