The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ashley (Eileen Davidson) is making a risky move by warning Gloria (Judith Chapman) to back off on next week’s new epsiodes. While Ashley’s last name is Abbott, her biological father was Brent Davis (played by Bert Kramer and initially by Jim McMullan). And that deeply personal fact is something that Ashley doesn’t want the entire world to learn through another GC Buzz exclusive interview with Gloria.
Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) is the biological mother of Ashley, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Traci (Beth Maitland). John (Jerry Douglas) and Dina were married when Ashley was born, however he was never told that Ashley wasn’t his child. It is important to note though that John was (is) Ashley’s legal father.
The exposing of this secret likely wouldn’t affect corporate matters. But the personal shame Ashley would face, along with the besmirching of John’s name would be devastating for the Abbott family. That point alone might prevent Gloria from using this information against them, which assumes that she has full possession of said information, or somehow gains proof of it.
John’s final wife has always been a total wild card, so there’s no way to know if she might impulsively blurt out the truth. The again, she might use it as a form of retaliation if she doesn’t get whatever she feels she’s currently entitled to.
Next week (February 6-10) Ashley tells Gloria, “I don’t like you and I don’t want you anywhere near my family’s company.” Okay, not liking her is understandable. But, considering that Jack recently had a purported one-night stand turned into a bogus sexual harassment charge, how might Gloria respond to Ashley’s threat?
Bad family blood can boil through the end of various people’s lives, depending upon the personalities involved. Many viewers can likely relate to a forced genetic connection who has rarely, if ever behaved like a human being, let alone like a caring family member.
As longtime viewers know, Jack proved that Gloria and John were never legally married (twice). That resulted in the never-was Mrs. Abbott being left off John’s inheritance list. An outcome that caused Gloria to burn inside ever since.
Whether she chose to seek revenge against Jack since returning in December, 2016, or only after he refused to give her a job at Jabot and Fenmore’s combined companies isn’t yet known. But Gloria now feels that she has nothing to lose, which was only initially dangerous for Jack. However, Ashley’s warning now adds her to Gloria’s hit list.
