The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Hilary (Mishael Morgan) has begun to pursue Devon (Bryton James) again. Hevon never stopped loving each other, but mutually decided to part ways earlier this year. Now that Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) rejected Hilary’s latest romantic overture, she’s begun exploring the potential of a reconciliation.
This reunion isn’t as impossible as it seemed just weeks ago. Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) interest in Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) is the key to James’ character being single again. Yes, Mariah impulsively claimed that she loved Devon. But that seemed somewhat suspect and likely is a cover.
Mariah’s undefined feelings for Tessa are mixing into her evolving relationship with Devon. As that happens, Devon hasn’t fully released his love for Hilary and likely never will.
Devon has never truly hated Hilary, he simply was infuriated by the things she did. But he isn’t openly pursuing her, as he appeared to be doing after their divorce was finalized.
Hilary isn’t being disingenuous in making goo-goo eyes at Devon. He is the love of her life, until, or if another man emerges.
Y&R’s writers would seem unlikely to rewrite Hevon back together, as the split was just orchestrated relatively recently. However, executive producer Mal Young’s newly added title (head writer) means that his team’s scripts will begin to be seen in October. So that’s a good calendar point for Hevon fans to consider marking.
Hilary knows that Devon understands her better than anyone. She’s also very appealing and possesses a passion that’s intoxicating.
If Mariah ever dumps Devon he’ll naturally be affected. But he doesn’t appear to love Mariah at this point. However, he does care about her and is honestly trying to pursue the development of a deeper relationship. Depending upon who both parties handle a potential breakup, Hilary will be in prime position to offer Devon a comfortable shoulder to rest his head on.
One of the prime points that may have been lost in Hevon’s volatile relationship was the friendship they shared. Yes, Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Lily (Christel Khalil) represent Devon’s strongest human bonds. But Hilary carved her own category in his heart. The same was true for her where Devon was concerned.
All points above influence savvy fans consideration of a potential Hevon reunion. Reigniting that flame would certainly create a somewhat different dynamic the second time around. Whether Hilary and Devon could make a second marriage work is another question that they, all connected characters and viewers can consider if that plot point is reached.
