The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Kyle (Lachlan Buchanan) could be coming home to Genoa City. Fans last saw Jack’s (Peter Bergman) son in 2015, when he was involved with Summer (Hunter King). Business matters resurrected this character’s name and influence, much to Jack’s surprise.
J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) name was dropped almost a year ago. Luckinbill just returned to the cast this month. So it’s possible that Kyle’s return could stretch well beyond New Year’s Day and also incorporate a recast. In the meantime, use of this off-screen character’s board vote served to remove Jack as its king.
The Jabot board was tied on a confidence vote in Jack’s regard. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) called the meeting in hopes of ousting the reigning CEO. Her motive actually wasn’t sinister, but instead a reflection of reality.
Jack felt compelled to be with Dina (Marla Adams) as she faces her darkest hours. But he doesn’t know how long this period will last and seems ill-equipped to handle her Alzheimer’s disease.
Dina’s son opted to take what he called a temporary leave of absence from the company and elevated Ashley to the CEO’s slot. Then, Jack decided that he could resume his duties while working exclusively from home.
Running a major cosmetics company requires full-focus. Jack isn’t able to offer that, as his dashed online meeting last week confirmed. Dina’s appearance while he was talking to a major client served to end Jack’s video call and drop a potential get for Jabot.
Separately, Ashley was working for years to finalize an important deal. She was recently able to cross that finish line. But Jack nixed the agreement for no apparent reason. That decision cost the family business a chance to expand its profits, which reinforced Jack’s seeming desire to battle his sister rather than look out for the bottom line.
Jack offered an olive branch recently, as he presented Ashley will sketches of a complete redesign of the Jabot laboratory. That space was used by Brash and Sassy until its recent fold-back to Newman Enterprises.
Ashley appreciated Jack’s gesture, but wasn’t dissuaded from moving forward with her board vote plan. She’s hopeful that her brother will eventually come to realize that what happened was best for Dina, him and the company.
Kyle’s unexpected vote, as announced by Gloria (Judith Chapman) cinched Jack’s angst. Jack thought that Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) last-minute board add would secure the vote count, but he was wrong.
In trying to be Dina’s caregiver he lost sight of what was most important, his mother. Ashley is fully capable of running Jabot temporarily, or later, in a power-share. Both siblings must now make amends and peace heading into Christmas and the New Year.
