‘This is Us’ spoilers indicate that things are about to get pretty ugly in Rebecca and Jack’s marriage, thanks to a new love interest named Ben. In fact, many fans are worried that jazz keyboardist Ben might end up causing major trouble for Jack (played by Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca’s (played by Mandy Moore) marriage and family.
Actor Sam Trammell, who plays Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend Ben on the hit NBC dramedy revealed that he’s already received quite a fan backlash. Some fans and even close friends are already giving him a hard time about his character on the show. They don’t want to see Rebecca in a messy love triangle with Sam and her husband, Jack. But with the way things are looking right now, that might very well happen. Jack and Rebecca even got into a huge fight on Valentine’s Day, which led to Jack ending his sobriety at a diner.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Sam Trammell said, “I had a dad with a kid in our class come to me and say, ‘Listen, I don’t know what your character is doing on the show, but this could really affect our relationship.’ I’m not kidding you. He told me he was such a huge fan of This is Us and of Jack and Rebecca, so I was on notice.”
What’s more, Sam doesn’t really say if Rebecca did in fact cheat on Jack with Ben. Jack really doesn’t know much about Rebecca and Ben’s past relationship and Sam even says that Jack is better off not knowing the entire truth. If he does, he might get in the way of Rebecca’s singing career, which of course will lead to another big blow out fight between the couple.
Yet, many fans already know that Ben and Rebecca don’t end up getting together, thanks to her present-day storyline with Miguel. Still, fans already see Ben as the show’s new villain. He might or might not be the reason behind Jack and Rebecca’s breakup. Fans will just have to tune in to see what happens next.
