ZOO Season 3 Episode 10 ‘Once Upon a Time in the Nest’ Recap Part 1
In Seoul, the team led by Logan (Josh Salatin) enter an enclosed area where the eggs are of the hybrids and the chemicals they are using are lethal and should neutralize the spores but they need to keep an eye on their toxic levels, telling them where to lay the charges, giving them 30 minutes.
In Copenhagen, Mitch (Billy Burke), Jamie (Kristen Connolly), Jackson (James Wolk) and Max carry Abigail (Athena Karkanis) from the vehicle into the lab on the airplane. Jamie nods for Mitch to go with her, while Abraham “Abe” (Nonso Anozie) worries that Clementine (Gracie Dzienny) is convulsing in the water and informs the baby’s father that he needs to accelerate the pregnancy and induce labor; the father pulls a gun and orders him to get Clem out of the tank.
Int he lab, Jackson places his sister on the bed, telling max to get Abe but as the alarms are going off, Abe continues to argue with Sam (Delon de Metz) not sure if he can trust Abe but as Jackson distracts Sam, Abe does what he needs to do for Clem, he injects the tank and everything is fine now.
Jamie tells Mitch he is going to kill Abigail, something he would never do as Mitch, now that he is Mr. Duncan; since he is a doctor they are going to want to save her but he is going to kill her instead. Jackson reveals to Abe that Abigail is the final hybrid they were looking for; meanwhile Jamie tells Duncan he will go back into his box if he doesn’t kill Abigail like she ordered him to do and tells him to trust him when she turns him back to Duncan again. She doesn’t know how things work but offers to free Duncan from her, Mitch and Abigail.
Duncan is told by Jamie that he needs to kill Abigail because her and her friends cannot do the deed; this has happened before, they have fought, put their lives on the line and lose every time. Jackson is a good guy with a great heart but she needs to break the cycle. Meanwhile in Seoul, Logan realizes the spores are releasing and orders everyone back to the tunnels now; one of the crew is pulled to safety but explodes inside his helmet with blood.
Dariela (Alyssa Diaz) is visited by an agent at the motel she is at with Isaac (Jesse Muhoozi), in Milwaukee; she informs him she is not going to join the IADG, even though they can ensure her son’s safety. They want her because of all her knowledge from working with Jackson and she is one of the best when it comes to the tactical aspect too. He plays the “children” card, telling her there will be no world left for them if they don’t take a stand together. Dariela feels like a hypocrite and Abe says she has been the wife and the mother and its time for her to become the soldier again.
Sam wakes up in a cage inside the plane while Mitch says he is going to do what Jamie asked him to do. Max says its okay and he could do it, asking about the last time they did surgery together; Duncan screws up saying it was good times when they actually almost lost the patient. Abigail begins to seize and there is blood coming out of her ears; Mitch says she needs a lumbar puncture and there is no time to open her up. Jamie is furious that Mitch/Duncan did something to save Abigail and he says he only relieved the pressure and she will probably still die; he reminds her they can’t make it look like obvious murder and for her to trust him.
Jackson talks to Sam inside the cage demanding to know what Abigail had planned. He says stopping the beacons and Jackson informs him that he has the entire thing backwards and after his parents died when he was 10, Abigail raised him and he trusts only her and Clementine.
Dariela returns to the IADG, where she learns about the nests Abigail has planted in the past decade. They believe these nests will hatch on their own but if the beacons go off, it will be a million times worse. Dariela is welcomed to the IADG as she jumps right in on the fight against the hybrids.
Abe, Jackson and Max are looking at scans of Abigail when Dariela calls and informs them about the incubating nests all over the world, saying if they hatch there will be thousands of new hybrids to fight. Max tells them to get the results to Mitch as Max excuses himself. He rushes to his room where he places an egg inside a metal box and locks it.
Abe knows what it will take to save Abigail but its too high. Abe tells him they either use the samples they obtained to save his sister or they use them to save mankind. Jackson tells him to use the spinal fluid to save Abigail and they are going to Seoul where he can get more.
Just as Mitch is about to do surgery on Abigail, Abe arrives saying he is scrubbing in and they are using the samples to save Abigail; Jamie isn’t happy as Abe tells her about the nests and the only person who can help destroy the hybrids is on the table. Dariela calls Logan, who is happy to see her. She tells him no one is to go into the nest until they can write up a full report; officially those are his orders while unofficially she will let Jackson explain.
ZOO Season 3 Episode 10 ‘Once Upon a Time in the Nest’ Recap Part 2
Abe catches Mitch about to cut something that would kill Abigail; Abe tells him to be more careful as Abe begins to place the fluid inside Abigail; he thinks its working as her vitals go up.
In Seoul, Logan is confused as to why they are doing all of this for Abigail who is a terrorist. Logan says there is no way for him to go through the nest and find the 6 eggs he needs in 20 minutes and offers to go with him, saying he is a sucker for impossible challenges.
Jamie says Abigail is stable and Abe is going to save her. Duncan says he is task oriented and morality isn’t an issue; she doesn’t want a psyche evaluation from a robot but she is told she won as he had changed the liquid in the needle Abe injected her with. Jamie worries that Abe will think he killed Abigail.
Dariela watches as they got one down and says they have 16 minutes left and need to pick up the pace. Abe starts compressions while Mitch/Duncan pretends to give her air; Abe begs for her not to die on him. Mitch tells him to stop as its over and they did everything they could. Mitch takes a scalpel and leaves the room, Abe removes his gloves and as he leaves a red light begins to flash inside Abigail.
There is now a power outage in Tokyo but there is only one building that has power in the whole area; as they see the satellite imagery, they don’t know what it is. Logan and Jackson have been about to find 5 of the hybrids and have 5 minutes left to find the last one. Dariela taps in Abe who tells him Abigail is dead; as Jackson walks away one of the eggs falls and begins to open just as the box on the plane begins to rattle around. Dariela tells Jackson and Logan to drop everything and get out as the eggs are hatching.
Mitch confronting Jamie, she says she lied to him and it was easy as pie. He takes a scalpel to his throat, ordering her to step away from the safe or he will slice his throat. The IADG is working on an evacuation, asking Abe what activated the beacons when he suddenly sees the red light under her skin; he thinks this is the cause of the activation and he cuts her neck open thinking it was activated when her heart stopped; Dariela orders him to do what he needs to do as fast as he can. Logan and Jackson refuse to leave until they get the last sample, as eggs fall all around them.
Duncan says to back away from the safe or Mitch will die. She thinks Abigail is dead, but he says she has no idea what he has done. He puts the scalpel down and says by killing Abigail she just ended the world; he mocks her about no witty comeback. She has a light flash in his face and they fight over the switch.
More nests are waking up throughout Asia; Abe cannot remove the piece inside Abigail. The IADG wants to blow this now, but Dariela says Logan and Jackson are inside the nest; she is told they’d rather deal with the deadly spores than all the hybrids they need to hunt. She tells them to go to the stairwell and presses the button to blow up the nest.
She calls out for Jackson and Logan who reveal they are alive, she says she is sending a team to extract them. Abe says they got the thing out but it is still activated. Max smashes it with a canister and it doesn’t shut it off, but the giant snake stored in the locked box manages to escape and slither invisibly inside the plane. Abe says a trace will help them find the rest of the beacons; Max offers to get Mitch who is in a huge physical fight with Jamie. When Max finds them fighting and demands to know what is going on, the snake snatches the switch.
Mitch/Duncan races past Jamie who tells Max that its Duncan and she never changed him back to Mitch. Max reveals he brought one of the eggs on her plane; together they begin to spread around food on the floor so they can see the snake.
The IADG find more beacons activating in Australia; Dariela tells Abe that two beacons have gone live and they cannot handle another one. Abe asks for time as Jamie stabs the snake. Abe gets the data from the microchip in Abigail but can’t decode it, he sends it to Dariela as Jamie continues to cut through the snake, killing it. She digs inside it and retrieves the switch as Duncan attacks her. She is able to knock him down, she grabs Max but Duncan says they can get rid of him now but the die has been cast and he left a treat for her saying death is only the beginning.
Max switches Duncan back to Mitch and smashes the switch; Mitch has no clue what Duncan was talking about so Jamie tells them to search the plane for any weak spots. IADG are told to put their full attention on the data Abe is sending in. Jamie suddenly realizes that Duncan could have been talking about Abigail’s death being only the beginning.
Abe talks to Dariela asking if the IADG has any room for another scientist and they end their talk with “I love you” but when he hangs up Abigail stabs him in the back and the chest; stopping the download. Dariela attempts to call Abe who is profusely bleeding on the ground in the lab. Abigail says, “Mitch?” and when he says yes she says its the wrong answer and shoots him; Jamie and Max are both shot by Abigail as Sam is woken by the shots in the jail cell.
Jackson returns to find Abigail alive, he asks how she is there, she raises her gun and shoots him in the chest too saying, “Goodbye brother!” and walks off the plane.
Clementine is very pregnant and out of the tank, she is calling out for everyone but there is no response.
