General Hospital spoilers say Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) will soon have bad news for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) seeks out Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner). Those two spoilers together could mean that when Ava and Sonny go head-to-head in a custody match over Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) Ava might, against all odds, win custody of Avery!
Ava will no doubt use the unsafe conditions of an Alzheimers patient in the home, namely Avery’s paternal grandfather Mike Corbin (Max Gail) and the little trip with grandpa to see the horses in her custody case. Lots of grandpas take granddaughters various places such as petting zoos, horse or pony rides, and the like, so that would not be the point.
The point would be that Mike thought Avery was his late daughter Courtney, and possibly the fact that he didn’t tell anyone where they were going. Sonny and Carly (Laura Wright) no doubt will play dirty, if Carly is even allowed a say in court, considering she does not have any formal custody of Avery. They will bring up every dirty thing in Ava’s past as proving she would be an unfit mother!
However, the judge may take into consideration that Ava has a grown daughter, Kiki (Hayley Erin) who didn’t turn out too bad, especially if Kiki speaks up for her favorably. Dr. Griffin Munroe (Matt Cohen) will support Ava outside the courtroom but will likely cite conflict of interest as a reason not to speak up for her, considering he is treating Mike.
The family court judge will be tasked with deciding where Avery will be the safest, and he or she will likely take into consideration that while Mike did not show the best judgment or competence with Avery, at least she wasn’t hurt or endangered. Avery obviously wasn’t bothered or frightened by his calling her “Courtney” and at her young age, she probably didn’t notice or maybe thought it was a game.
She certainly didn’t think Grandpa had rocked himself off his rocking chair, so to speak! So if he is not institutionalized, and Ava is persuaded to agree to it, he may be able to have supervised visitation possibly with Griffin overseeing the visits. If Sonny plays hardball and Carly runs her mouth in the wrong way, they may only get supervised visitation as well, with no home visits!!
After all, Avery is bonded with her father and stepmother, and the judge won’t want to subject her to any emotional trauma. The fact that Griffin is in Ava’s home (at this point temporarily, although the judge wouldn’t have to know that) and he is a doctor and upstanding citizen of Port Charles, may override any murkiness in Ava’s past – besides, Sonny is a convicted felon who is a mob boss. Plus, in real life the family court usually grants custody to the mother, unless there is evidence of abuse or extreme neglect of the child or children.
So, will Ava receive full custody of Avery, GH fans—or at least temporary full custody, until other home arrangements can be made for Mike? Keep watching General Hospital and keeping up with General Hospital spoilers and news on CDL!
