General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the ABC soap may have a recast in the works. The show’s had some major casting shakeups lately, so this could be the latest blow. GH fans love Tequan Richmond as TJ Ashford, but he might be on his way out thanks to a new project. Richmond just scored a hot role that could put an end to his days in Port Charles.
According to Deadline, BET is rebooting a hit romantic comedy from 1992. They’re putting another version of Boomerang in production and Richmond is their leading man. That’s certainly fantastic news for Richmond’s career, but what does it mean for his GH future?
Richmond isn’t around much anyway, so he may have decided to just let the role go. Playing TJ could’ve become a hassle since he’s got other gigs like this cooking up. Richmond may want to spread his wings and leave General Hospital behind altogether.
If that’s the case, GH will probably want to bring in a replacement. It’s possible they’ll just write TJ out, but some other news points to a recast. Daytime Confidential reports that a casting call came out the day before the Richmond announcement. General Hospital is on the hunt for “Terrence,” an African-American male in the 23-25 age range.
GH wants a hunk to play this charming and bright character. “Terrence” is said to be a grad student who’s overcome plenty of obstacles. This definitely sounds like a disguised TJ recast. The timing isn’t ideal since viewers are still getting used to the new Jordan. Briana Nicole Henry took over after Vinessa Antoine’s departure, so there’s always an adjustment period.
Based on all the evidence, it seems fans will have to adjust to a new TJ as well. Will you miss Tequan Richmond if he’s leaving the show? General Hospital spoilers say some serious drama’s coming up no matter what, so stay tuned. We’ll give you updates as other GH details emerge.
