Grey’s Anatomy begins with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) talks to Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) after he lost control in the bar over the predator bartender who preyed on AA members. He’s worried about the weather that is getting worse, but Meredith confronts him about not going to meetings and now he is destroying bars. She tells him to get his head right in order to help the people that depend on him.

Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) finally returns home, knocking on the door and waking wife Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). He apologizes for waking her, as he didn’t know the rules about using his key during their separation. He wanted to board up the windows during the storm, when he goes back outside she stares at their wedding photo.

Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) arrive at the hospital, talking about how a tree has fallen on one of the streets and how it’s going to get worse. Jackson brushes her off, saying they are not going to just talk about the weather. Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) walks in, which surprises Maggie. Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) come in with baby Leo revealing there has been no word on missing Betty (Peyton Kennedy) and Teddy still offers to help them in any way she can. Once they walk away, Teddy tells Maggie that she couldn’t dump any more on them when their kid has been missing for 3 days.

Richard goes to see Miranda in Dr. Alex Karev’s (Justin Chambers) office and since Alex isn’t there, he explains how he was close to Frankie who passed away. He tells her how he went into a bar, lost his temper and caused property damage and was arrested. Miranda benches him, tells him to catch up on charts and stay away from patients. He thanks her for that while she wonders where Alex Karev is. Meanwhile, Alex is at home snoring away in bed with his wife, Dr. Jo Karev (Camilla Luddington) in bed beside him. Jo wants at least 5 more minutes but Alex suddenly realizes what time it is and rushes out of bed.

Meredith and Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) are attending to their patient CeCe, the matchmaker; who shows Meredith a photo of Dr. Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack), saying he has distinctly kind eyes and a playful sense of humor. Meredith doesn’t want to hear it and tells what to do about CeCe’s labored breathing; DeLuca notes something is off with Meredith but she doesn’t reveal anything.

Outside the storm is picking up quickly but Alex is determined to get to work; Jo tells him they can’t as the highway is closed and they are screwed and can’t help people if they are dead. Alex calls Miranda who tells him to stay at home until it is safe.

Owen finds Miranda informing her of all the traumas the wind storm is bringing in and she excitedly says these storms are her favorite, but the ED is a zoo. Owen feels they cannot handle all of this and Seattle Pres is already closed for traumas. Miranda takes charge and prioritizes the ED, saying this is a brick house and no amount of huffing and puffing is going to blow them down!

Alex feels like a crappy leader for abandoning ship in the middle of a disaster. Jo thinks they should make this their second honeymoon; they power goes out but know they have a gas stove so they can still cook. Alex and Jo both try to turn on the stove which doesn’t work and can’t remember when the last time was when they used it.

Miranda continues to control the ED, sending trauma patients to each room; but tells Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) and Dr. Nico Kim (Alex Landi) to go to the clinic and clear patients as per prodigal. She quickly gives Teddy privileges at the hospital, wondering if she lives there now.

The link works on a patient named Georgia with Maggie when Meredith arrives. The link is glad she is back but leaves as Meredith explains to her sister that her patient in LA didn’t die, just plans changed. In another room, Amelia and Dr. Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliot) work on the woman who has a selfie stick embedded in her brain; which isn’t even hers. Amelia informs her that she might want to call someone because when they perform surgery things might get very complicated; she suddenly spots Betty in the hallways and Bailey tells her to go!

Jackson, Owen, and Teddy deal with an elderly man who has a Christmas candy cane ornament that has pierced him through his shoulder and out his abdomen. His wife is shouting at him and they are bickering in the room. He explains how he was arguing with his wife and went for a walk when this happened. Teddy spots Amelia with Betty and Owen excuses himself to join them. Betty needs stitches but tells them she doesn’t need a tox screen because she is high; Amelia walks away when Betty says she wants to get clean because of them and Leo, Owen reassures Betty that things will be okay. Teddy witnesses the whole thing.

Jo finds her bunsen burner, saying she can make them dinner still as that is what she used when he was living in the car. She finds their marriage license, telling Alex that since he didn’t mail it in, their marriage isn’t even official. Schmitt calls Alex, telling him Josh Gordon, one his patients is in the ED and tells him to admit him to PEDS. When Nico says he will take care of it, Schmitt gets angry with him, saying he knows PEDS too, but if Nico wants to walk with him to PEDS, he can do so.

Amelia and Taryn’s patient tells her mom she is the best mom ever and tells her that she loves her; admitting when she hangs up that she doesn’t want to scare her, but Amelia knows her mom is plenty scared. While prepping for surgery, Amelia asks Owen about Betty and then tells him that she needs to tell him something after surgery but not there; so they agree to go for coffee after.

Meredith, Maggie and Dr. Dahlia Qadri (Sophia Ali) perform surgery as Meredith tells Maggie that she knows it sucks when you open your heart but Maggie needs to realize that things between her and Jackson are going to die. Richard goes to see Frank “Lil Pancake” Shavelson, the son of Frankie in the NICU and decides to call his wife, Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen), but is unable to reach her.

Amelia’s patient dies, which Taryn doesn’t understand until Amelia explains she never had a chance as the stick was right against her artery. They learn she is a donor and quickly close her up to bring her up to ICU to harvest her organs; Taryn realizes she is B- and matches CeCe!

Nico finds Schmitt, who says he is waiting out in PEDS since the winds are picking up. Nico admits he is worried about Levi, who is nothing but rude to him. Nico reminds him this is all the drama he didn’t want and doesn’t need the “shame spiral.” Levi snaps explaining how dangerous it is to go between the two buildings right now, advising him if he goes to stay low to the ground, but he doesn’t listen and is blown away when he walks out; causing Levi to shout out his name and running out towards him.

Schmitt is able to crawl to Nico and together they struggle to an ambulance, where they two sit. Nico tries to catch his breath while Levi tells him, “You’re welcome!”

Owen cuts the ornament piece by piece of their patient as Jackson jokes that the longer the surgery, the more grateful their patient as they are buying him time away from his wife. Owen wants to know what is going on with Teddy, who doesn’t want to discuss what is going on; only revealing she stayed in Seattle because she didn’t want to bleed out, so now Owen knows that it is bad.

Amelia tells Dr. Bailey and Taryn that their patient is officially brain dead. Her phone rings and it is Mrs. Moss, the mother. Amelia is left with the task of telling her that her daughter is deceased; when the call is done, Amelia rushes to Betty’s side. Betty knows Amelia is mad, but she wraps her arms around Betty, thanking her for coming back, reminding her that she can always come back. Betty hugs her back aandAmelia cries.

Maggie confronts Meredith, wanting to know what is wrong with her that she can’t listen to her problems. Meredith understands that Maggie loves Jackson and reveals that Catherine has advanced cancer on her spine and she is why Meredith went to LA. Jackson doesn’t know, but when he does, she is going to need Maggie more than ever; so either she needs to make up with him or in the very least be his friend. She reminds Maggie that she broke her medical oath and now they are even.

Owen completes surgery and they realize their patient is completely unscathed. Teddy reveals to Owen that she is pregnant and he is the father; she apologizes for waiting so long to tell him. Immediately, Teddy is called away for another surgery, leaving Owen reeling as Jackson offers his congratulations.

Teddy wanders down the hall when Amelia asks her if they are finished with their surgery; she says they are as Amelia thanks her for all her help with Betty. Teddy helps Bailey with a patient who has a license plate lodged in his chest; the orderly feels they should be shutting down trauma but Bailey insists the hospital is still a brick house.

Jackson talks to Owen, saying if it makes him feel any better, he was the last one to find out about his daughter Harriet. Owen takes off, wanting to deal with this. Meredith, Taryn and DeLuca comes to see CeCe, revealing there are organs for her but DeLuca explains there are huge risk factors in her receiving these organs and a chance she might not make it off Dr. Grey’s operating table. Meredith admits he is right and she doesn’t have to accept the organs as it is a big risk. CeCe reminds her that if she doesn’t do her part with this one chance she has been given, she will haunt her from her grave, but give her those organs because she’d much rather haunt her from above ground.

Link walks into the hallway and Meredith stops him, saying yes to drinks with him, assuming the offer is still standing, assuming the bar is still standing after the storm; DeLuca witnesses the exchange and isn’t too happy. At home, Alex and Jo have candles lit and open their wedding gifts. Alex wants to return all the crap, make a fortune and buy a bigger TV.

Levi gives Nico an ice pack for his face as Nico wonders if Levi can see without his glasses. He says he can see, just not perfectly. Levi continues to bitch at him, saying he doesn’t have a shame spiral. He is a nerd and is no longer ashamed of being attracted to guys than anything else in his life; sharing how he played Dungeons and Dragons throughout college with 3 guys and no one was having sex. He still lives in that same basement in his mother’s house. He felt sex was never on the table for people like him, he knew he was attracted to boys and when Nico kissed him everything fell into place and for the first time he felt like he was holding the sun sword (part of D&D). Nico grabs him and kisses him as Levi asks if he is kissing him only to stop him from talking but Nico says no.

DeLuca meets with Meredith, who tells him it was brave to tell CeCe what he did. He tells her that she amazes him and while he is feeling brave, he is not sorry he kissed her at the wedding. He has options but he wants to get another one in. Meredith keeps making excuses for them not to be together, but he believes she feels it too. She doesn’t trust her thinking, promising to think about what he said when she has a more level head.

Alex and Jo toast to their second honeymoon; neither one of them care about their marriage license as they both feel married; but Jo wants him to still mail it in. Jackson explains that their elderly patient, Louie is going to be fine. Jackson tells her that he needs peace and quiet for a few weeks as his wife explains they have been together for 45 years, but they never would have made it without the fighting. She doesn’t know what she would have done if he didn’t come back because every time they fight, he always comes back; her words resonate with Jackson.

Miranda goes to see Richard, who says he is going to find a new sponsor but is pretty sure his wife is having an affair with Dr. Tom Koracick (Greg Germann). Bailey reveals that Ben and her are taking a sabbatical right now and not even sleeping in the same house; Richard tells her people don’t take a sabbatical from a marriage. Bailey explains that she worried about him dying every day as a firefighter. Richard says she gave up her job and her husband, asking if she is going to give up her son, Tuck next; ordering her to get help to fix from the inside out.

Jackson finds Maggie, who reaches her hand out to him. He kisses her as she tears up, apologizes saying it’s his mom. Miranda is joining in on the surgery with Phoebe, to remover her organs. DeLuca catches the elevator with Meredith, promising he will stand in the corner and not look at her. Owen chases Teddy on another elevator on her way to the OR, when Amelia gets on the next floor. She excitedly tells them she wants to apply to be Betty’s foster mom. It might mean she has to move out for a while, but she loves Betty; asking Owen if he loves her too. She sees the look on Owen and Teddy’s face, asking what is going on.

Outside in the ambulance, Levi and Nico are about to make love when a hydro pole snaps and comes crashing down. The power goes out in the hospital, trapping everyone in elevators and Ors. Will CeCe get her organs? Will Phoebe’s organs remain viable? Will Levi and Nico survive? Owen was about to reveal to Amelia what was going on, now that they are trapped will she learn the truth? Meredith and DeLuca are trapped, will they act on their feelings for each other? How will Jackson react to the news about his mother, Catherine’s condition?
