The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that three cast returns signal Thad Luckinbill’s (J.T.) departure. Mackenzie (Kelly Kruger), Raul (David Scott Lago) and Brittany (Lauren Woodland) are all returning to Genoa City. Three, simultaneous signs that something dramatic is about to happen – like a funeral.
J.T.’s heart condition is currently being treated with medication. That, along with his undercover work for Paul (Doug Davidson), appear to explain Mr. Hellstrom’s erratic behavior. Kruger’s, Lago’s and Woodland’s character reprisals will play directly into J.T.’s arc, which coincides with Y&R’s forty-fifth anniversary in March.
Mac, Raul, Brittany and J.T. attended Walnut Grove Academy, GC’s private high school, at the tail end of the last millennium. Yes, it’s been that long soapy readers.
Various elements of injected teenage and young adult angst filled CBS’ daytime screens during the years when these characters were a prime part of Y&R’s storylines. Each fictional persona naturally experienced ups and downs before departing.
Mac (as last played by Clementine Ford), left with J.T. and a young Reed (then played by Max Page), when the Hellstrom’s moved to Washington, D.C. in 2010.
Raul moved to Boston in 2004, where he attended college. Lago briefly reprised his role in 2009, when his storyline centered upon a relationship with Mac.
In 2005, Brittany and her son (Joshua) moved to New York City to be with her parents after learning that her husband Bobby (Charles Robert Cassen) had been killed. Bobby, a former mobster and Joshua’s father, previously turned state’s evidence and was in a government protection program when he was supposedly run over by a hit and run driver.
Back to current storylines – Victoria (Amelia Heinle) has just begun to realize that J.T.’s mood swings aren’t based in their suddenly on-again relationship. She will quickly come to realize that her one-time husband is facing a fierce health battle.
The coming end of Luckinbill’s character, if this choice has been finalized by executive producer and head writer Mal Young, will prove to be deeply sad. J.T. is a middle-aged man with three children, two of whom are Mac’s.
On the reality side, Y&R’s viewers openly embraced Luckinbill’s return to the show in December. J.T.’s reappearance in GC proved to be smooth, which is always confirmation of an actor’s deft skills and engaging scripts.
All fans of good soap will miss J.T. if he leaves this world to be with Colleen (Tammin Sursok) in Heaven. Possibly that actor’s reprisal will be seen then as well. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless. Check back regularly for Y&R spoilers and news!
